The Game Plan for Geelong – with Blake Redden
(@BlakeRedden)
Best Bets ($50 All-Up)
Enjoy An Ale (Race 1
No.7) $4
I love the way this guy returned from a break with a
slashing third behind two pretty nice horses in Maybetothemax and Daenerys
Targaryen. David Van Ryn has his team low-flying and in a race where his major
dangers have drawn the second row, I expect him to be really hard to beat.
Blackwarrior (Race 2
No.9) $1.50
This fella returned with a thoroughly impressive win
first-up. That may have been a 3C0-1 race at Melton and while he only beat the
second horse by just on a metre, they gapped the rest with third 24 metres
away. They ran a pretty slick last half there (57.1secs) for that class. A
repeat of that performance would make him the horse to beat for sure and
certain and he looks a nice way to end our early All-Up.
Best Roughie ($20
place)
Kadabra Dynasty (Race
7 No.1) $17
This guy is first up from the stand today, and while his
form last preparation was neither brilliant nor terrible, I’m banking on a
trial as a good indicator that he is close to his top. He won a trial at Melton
on July 1 in handy enough fractions for this class, coming from the 10-metre
mark. He is off the front today and while probably not a winning chance, can
place for sure.
The Money Race ($40 worth
of Flexi Trifectas)
Race 5
Anna Faye (1) has
been simply terrific since crossing the ditch and has the barrier to be involved
in this for a long way. Her latest win at Bendigo was the perfect lead up for
this while Celebrity Lass (3) is in
the right camp and good winning form so while her margins haven’t been great,
she can keep improving along with Loong
Nien (9) who is a nice horse drawn to get another soft pegline run and
sprint home hard. They are the key chances with any of Ultimate CC (4) Maka Killin (6), Atticus Finch (7) or Rock Albert
(10) capable of placing so we will play three trifectas as outlined below.
