Good Form Preview - Tuesday Night at Terang

THE GAME PLANS for Terang

Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

BEST BET

Weallwantano (Race 5 no. 6) $2.70 $100 win
This guy was impressive from the front end at Horsham three back and he has since finished a gallant second to star mare La Machane at Ballarat after doing it tough and an excellent third to Ona Rocky Beach at Mount Gambier where he was once again forced to do the bullocking work in a fast-run sprint affair.  He draws widely tonight but there isn’t a great deal of pace to his inside and it wouldn’t shock to see him run to the lead and if that scenario unfolds I doubt he will be run down.

THE MONEY RACES
I like the look of tonight’s meeting from an exotic point of view and think we can get some decent folding if things go to plan.  I’m going to attack Races 2,6 and 7 via some trifectas and will outlay $300, which along with the above Best Bet and below Quaddie will take my total spend for the night to $500.

Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
BEST BET

The Fat Man (Race 2 no. 10) $1.90 $100 Win
Good Form followers would have landed a handy win out of this bloke last week and given he travelled three-wide for most of the journey and wasn’t tested late in that victory; he should be doing a similar demolition job on this field tonight.

THE MONEY RACE - RACE 7
The Speed Map is key here as I fell we can be almost certain of Nifty Manwarra (2) leading with Irene Louise (1) on his back and Tres Hombres (8) three pegs in transit. There is very little obvious pressure engaged here so expect those three to rule in what looms a peg-dominated affair. There are a few who can upset the apple cart though so play the three Trifectas below.

1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ 9,10. $30 gets 250%
1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ 3,5,6,7. $12 gets 50%

Good Form Preview - Monday @ Warragul

The Game Plan for Warragul – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

Today’s Warragul meeting doesn’t look like producing a huge result but it’s definitely a fun card for punting and if a few things fall into place we could get a tidy return on our quads and enjoy a pretty profitable afternoon overall. Below I’ve outline a very skinny Best Bet, three Money Races and some Quads. If we avoid backing Scruffy Major at the shorts our total daily outlay will be $250.

Best Bet

Scruffy Major (Race 4 no. 6) $1.30
There’s no value here but at least you can rely on one winner for the afternoon. Back him straight out if you happen to find $1.50 somewhere but otherwise just isolate him in all your Quads and one of the three Money Races outlined below.

The Money Races

Race 2
4,9/ 4,9/ 5,7,8. $18 gets 300%
4,9/ 5,7,8/ 4,5,7,8,9. $32 gets 177.78%

Race 4

6/ 2,5/ 2,3,5,7. $30 gets 500%
6/ 3,7/ 2,3,5,7. $20 gets 333.33%

Race 7

2,4,9/ 2,4,9/ 2,4,7,8,9. $50 gets 277.78%

Quaddies (x4)

6/ 7/ 3/ 2,4,9. $21 gets 700%

6/ 1,2,3,6,8,10/ 2,5,6,7/ 2,4,9. $16 gets 22.22%

Good Form Preview - Sunday Night at Echuca

THE GAME PLAN for Echuca – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

BEST BET

Maybe Better (Race 2 no. 5) $1.90   $400 win
This mare is no star but she looks ready to win again after snaring the silver medal at her past two on this circuit in heat and final of a C0 series behind Our Bally Beauty and Antigua, both of whom would destroy this lot.  She leaves the gate well, looks a big chance of taking up the running and from there it should be a case of shut the gate.  I’m going to make her my one big go of the night.

QUADDIES X4 $100 Spend
1,5,8/ 3/ 1,3,5,7,8/ 5.  $30 gets you 200%
1,5,8/ 3/ 1,3,5,7,8/ 1,6.  $24 gets you 80%
1,5,8/ 2,5,8/ 1,3,5,7,8/ 5.  $27 gets you 60%
1,5,8/ 2,5,8/ 1,3,5,7,8/ 1,6.  $19 gets you 21.11%

STAR TRIALLERS

Maharaja Lombo (Race 1 no. 3) $2.20
Has shown some talent in his 8 starts to date, including an excellent second to the classy Nowitzki at Cobram three runs ago in 1:57.3 and after winning a trial well here last week he is expected to be hard to roll first up from the handy draw.

Composite (Race 6 no. 3) $3.20
Former Kiwi mare now under the care of Roma Pocock for the Bendigo Harness Industry Training Centre and she is sure to take beating at her Aussie debut tonight after winning a trial on her new home track last Sunday.

Good Form Preview - Saturday Night at Bendigo

THE GAME PLAN for Bendigo – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

BEST BETS

Marty Monkhouser (Race 3 no. 6) $2.70     $100 win
This guy was going to be right in the finish before rolling into a gallop approaching the turn at Maryborough last start where he ended up out the back behind The Fire Within but I’m willing to forgive him for that indiscretion and load up on him tonight.  Here’s why.  He looks a great chance of getting the lead, or at worst he’ll occupy the death seat and with his main rivals drawn out the back I think Greg Sugars will control the race and get him home.

Guggenheim (Race 4 no. 5) $3.20     $100 win
I’ve been quite taken by this fellow’s two runs this time in where he has done a stack of work from unsuitable draws and battled on bravely for second placings behind In Triplicate at Charlton and Great Investment at Shepparton, both in fast-run races.  Similar to Marty Monkhouser in the previous race he looks a big chance of getting the lead, or at worst end up outside the speed and I think he looks a terrific gamble.

THE MONEY RACES
Along with having a crack at my Best Bets mentioned above I’m keen to play some exotics around them and have come up with some trifectas, which I’ve outlined below.  I’m going to throw $200 at them, which will take my total outlay to $500 for the night, including the $100 Quaddie.

Race 3

6/ 2,8,11/ 2,8,11.  $49 gets you 816.66%
2,8,11/ 6/ 2,8,11.  $24 gets you 400%
6/ 2,8,11/ 1,5,7,10.  $18 gets you 150%
2,8,11/ 6/ 1,5,7,10.  $9 gets you 75%

Race 4

5/ 6,11/ 6,11.  $30 gets you 1500%
5/ 6,11/ 7.  $10 gets you 500%
5/ 6,11/ 1,3,4,8.  $14 gets you 175%
6,11/ 5/ 6,11.  $26 gets you 1300%
6,11/ 5/ 7.  $10 gets you 500%
6,11/ 5/ 1,3,4,8.  $10 gets you 125%

QUADDIES X2 $100 Spend

Good Form Preview - Dirty Dozen @Melton

THE GAME PLANS for Melton

Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

THE MONEY RACES
Tonight’s program looks a tricky one but I’ve come up with Races 1 and 5 as the best ones to target via exotics.  I’ve outlined the bets below and will outlay $200, which along with my $100 Quad/Big6 will take my total spend for the night to $400.  Good luck and happy punting!

Race 1
First Four: 1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ Field.  $72 gets you 150%
First Four: 1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ Field/ 1,2,8.  $28 gets you 58.33%

Race 5
Exacta: 1/ 8,13.  $70 gets you 3500%
Exacta: 8,13/ 1.  $30 gets you 1500%

QUADDIE
1,2/ 1,8,13/ 11,12,13/ 3,4,5,7,12,13.  $100 gets you 92.59%

BIG6
3,4,5,7/ 1,2/ 1,8,13/ 11,12,13/ 3,4,5,7,12,13/ 1,2,3,6,7,11.  $100 gets you 3.85%

Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

Best Bets/ Formula 2/ All-Up

Purple Village (Race 2 no. 4) $3.50
Put simply, this bloke is much more talented than his rivals in my opinion and will be running them down with any luck whatsoever in transit.

Repelem (Race 4 no. 1) $2.20
The only question mark here will be whether Hryhorec chooses to lead or trail from the polemarking draw. If she leads as expected then I think she’ll run them off their feet but if the pressure is too great and she takes a sit it will need to be behind another quality horse. Either way she should be winning.

American Muscle (Race 5 no. 1) $2.50 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on this horse now
There are no question marks here. He will lead for sure and certain and so long as he wasn’t flattened by last week’s effort it will take an incredible mid-race tempo for his rivals to run him down.
I advise taking a Formula 2, where two of these three horses have to win for plenty and an All-Up, which is predicted to pay $21 for every $1 invested for less. Good luck.

Best Roughie/Place Bet

Arber (Race 4 no. 8) $31
Tabcorp Park raced with a distinctive leader/behind leader bias last Friday night and if there are legitimate signs the similar scenario is developing tonight then this guy is well worth a lash straight out for the place. He is $31 in today’s Herald Sun market so we can probably hope for $5 the drum. If that’s the case and Repelem (1) holds up early then you’ll certainly get a reasonable run for your dough.

The Money Races

Race 1
The Speed Map here is almost set in stone. Real Hammer (2) will lead with Cromac Jamie (1) on his back and Thirsty Mach (8) three pegs. Realistically, they should dominate from there so take two Trifectas and you shouldn’t miss the cash.

1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ 1,2,8,12. $30 gets 250%
1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ 4,5,7,10. $20 gets 83.33%

Race 5
As mentioned above I am super keen on American Muscle (1) here and I see only four realistic dangers in the race as a whole. Play the three Tricks below and I’d say it’s your best chance of a decent collect all night.

1/ 8,9,11,13/ 8,9,11,13. $56 gets 466.67%
1/ 8,9,11,13/ 2,4,6,7,12. $20 gets 100%
8,9,11,13/ 1/ 8,9,11,13. $24 gets 200%

Quaddies (x3)

1/ 1/ 11,13/ 4,5,7,9,12,13. $40 gets 333.33%
1/ 8,9,11,13/ 11,13/ 4,5,7,9,12,13. $24 gets 50%
2,6,7,8,10,12/ 1/ 11,13/ 4,5,7,9,12,13. $36 gets 50%

Good Form Preview - ANZAC Day @ Mildura

THE GAME PLAN for Mildura - with Gareth Hall

Mildura is my favourite place to punt in Victoria – the main reason being the horses race against each other every week and it easy to do your speed maps and once you can work that out around the 800 metre track it can be a lot of fun. Tonight we will be on the Cramp train to deliver us a healthy profit once again. This season if you have had a hundred dollars on horse’s Cramp has driven for himself you would be up around $2,000, so we will be taking his four best chances all up for $400 and hopefully that will gives around an $800 profit.

 All-Up

Jamies Boy (Race 4 no. 6)

Major Capital (Race 5 no. 2)

Real Magic (Race 7 no. 5)

Mista Taptoe Lombo (Race 8 no. 6)
The Money Race - Race 1

Good Form Preview - Wednesday Night at Ballarat

THE GAME PLAN for Ballarat – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

BEST BETS/ALL UP
The below pair won’t be flash odds but I doubt they will be beaten so I’m going to take them in an all up for $200.  If I can get back around $350 for my outlay then I’ll be a happy man.

Illawong Joyful (Race 1 no. 3) $2.20
This speedy filly is a proven 1:57.6 winner this track and distance and she looks ideally-placed tonight as she drops back to the short course after tackling a heat of the Victoria Oaks at Melton last time over the 2240m where she led and just felt the pinch in the last 100m to run a creditable fifth behind Courageousnquick.  She should have little trouble leading these tonight and with a lack of any real pressure I expect her to be too slick for her rivals.

Rebel Rustler (Race 4 no. 6) $2
This guy was only having his third start in a race on this circuit last time and after whipping around the field from his back row draw to find the front he demolished his hapless rivals to break his maiden in fine style.  He will find this a little bit harder tonight but he looks like strolling to the lead once more and if he reproduces a similar effort to last start they won’t beat him.

BEST VALUE BETS
In the pursuit of a little value I’ve come up with the below pair who I think will be very hard to beat at reasonable odds so I’m going to back them both each way with a total outlay of $200.

Cullen Time (Race 2 no. 9) $8           $30 Win x $70 Place
Big Bang Penny will be hard to beat in this and deserves favouritism but I’m going to have a decent crack at this filly at nice each way odds.  She beat home Big Bang Penny in a heat of the Victoria Oaks two runs ago and has since gone on to run a gallant second to My Sunday Girl at Cranbourne where she led, copped some heat and fought on courageously.  She was placed behind the very impressive Majorlook at Melton three back too and I think she has a great chance tonight.

Youranut (Race 7 no. 4) $3.20          $30 Win x $70 Place
This fellow really impressed at his first Victorian run for Ross Sugars at Geelong last Thursday night where he sustained a long run from the rear before racing away with the prize in the straight at the end of a 27.9 final quarter in a slippery 1:57.1 for the sprint trip.  He will only be improved by that outing and although tonight’s assignment is a tad harder I think he will be mighty hard to hold out once more.

QUADDIES X3 $100 Spend
6/ 2/ 5,11/ 2,4.  $12 gets you 300%
6/ 2,3,7,8/ 4,5,8,10,11/ 2,4,5,7,8.  $50 gets you 50%
5,7,10,11/ 2,3,7,8/ 4,5,8,10,11/ 2,4,5,7,8.  $38 gets you 9.5%

Good Form Preview - Wednesday @ Maryborough

The Game Plan for Maryborough – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

Best Bets/ Formula 3 ($50 outlay for 12.5 times)
It’s a tricky day at The Home of the Trotter so we’ll be playing pretty light but we’ve got some spare folding from last night’s monster Quad at Shep so happy to get a little loose and take a Formula 3 w/ the following four horses. For the uninitiated, a Formula 3 is where three of the four horses have to win if we’re to get a result. It is a risky play so just have something small and hope for a windfall result.

The Fire Within (Race 2 no. 3) $1.70
Itz Dreamin Jonesy (Race 4 no. 3) $1.60
Shesallyank (Race 5 no. 3) $3.30
Lombo Flashlight   (Race 7 no. 8) $2.90

Realistically, if the three most favoured of these horses lob you should double your money. If all four lob it’s your shout at the pub tonight!

Quaddies (x4)
3/ 1,2,3,4,9/ 3,5,11/ 8,10. $36 gets 120%
3/ 1,2,3,4,9/ 3,5,11/ 1,5,6,9. $30 gets 50%
3/ 1,2,3,4,9/ 4,6,8,13/ 8,10. $18 gets 45%

Good Form Preview - Tuesday night @ Shepparton

THE GAME PLAN for Shepparton – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

THE MONEY RACES
There are a number of short-priced favourites on tonight’s program and most of them should win, but instead of taking the tomato sauce about them I’ve gone in search of some value, with trifectas the best way to extract some cash out of the meeting.  I’ve come up with Races 1,3 and 5 as the best ones to target and have outlined the bets below.  I’m going to outlay $300 on them, which along with my $10 Quaddie will take my total spend for the night to $400.  Happy punting!

Good Form Preview - Monday @ Horsham

The Game Plan for Horsham – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

We have a sensational betting program at Horsham today so there’ll be no excuses for not making a quid! We’ll start off w/ a pretty conservative All-Up and then bundle our funds into a Michael Polster-inspired Trifecta-fest and of course, some Quads. Our total spend today is $300.
BEST BETS/ALL-UP
I’ll be taking the following horses in an all-up for $50 and hoping to double my money at least.
The Fat Man (Race 2 no. 9) WIN $1.90
This fellow had a big spruik on him prior to failing on debut, but trainer Dave Lewis rates him highly and he should be too good for a handy but unspectacular list of rivals today.
Lycoming Racer (Race 4 no. 1) WIN $1.80
This guy is a quick beginner who has drawn the pole in his first run for Emma Stewart over the ultra-sprint distance of 1200m. He’s no star but I’d be mortified if they ran him down with so much in his favour.

TRIFECTA-FEST
Race 1
3/ 1/ 2,4,5,6,8,9. $24 gets 400%
3/ 2,4,5,6,9/ 1. $10 gets 200%

Good Form Preview - Sunday Night at Kilmore

THE GAME PLAN for Kilmore – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

THE MONEY RACES
I’ve assessed some tricky meetings in my time but tonight’s is right up there with some of the more difficult to work out but nevertheless I’ve come up with what I think is a winning Game Plan.  I’ve decided to target Races 4,5,6 and 7 in a variety of different ways and I’m going to outlay $400, which along with my $100 Quaddie, where I’ve played nice and wide, will take my total spend to $500.

Missanger Management (Race 6 no. 5) $1.80
This former Kiwi filly didn’t do much wrong at her Aussie debut when second to Caledonian Attack at Melton last week, but she draws outside some speedy beginners and I doubt she will get as cushy a run tonight as she did on that occasion so I’m taking her on by backing the below horses straight out for $100 total spend.

Khans Seelster           Approx. price   $10.     $20 win.  Probable return $200.
Blue Label Jimmy       Approx. price   $7.       $30 win.  Probable return $210.
Frosty Star                  Approx. price   $5.       $50 win.  Probable return $250.

Good Form Preview - Saturday Night at Cranbourne

THE GAME PLAN for Cranbourne – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

TRIFECTA-FEST
It’s BACK!  I really like the look of tonight’s meeting from an exotic point of view with most races having limited winning chances and very few who can run a place so I’m going to attack the program via Trifectas.  The dividends won’t be huge but if things go our way I think we can make a tidy profit for the night.  I’m going to throw $300 at the below bets, which along with my $100 Quaddie will take my total outlay for the night to $400.  Here we go!

BLACK BOOKER

Major Lloyd (Race 8 no. 4) $1.60
Has had the two runs back from a lengthy break for an encouraging second to Hes Kinky and he stepped it up a notch at Melton last time when a gallant second to rising star Majorlook where he chased hard at the end of a blistering last quarter.  He should be nearing his peak now after those two runs, draws to push forward, race handy and this looks a great race for him to break his maiden.

Good Form Preview - Victoria Oaks Night at Melton

HUTCHY'S FINAL PREVIEW

THE GAME PLANS for Melton

Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

BEST BETS

My High Expectations (Race 6 no. 5) $1.75 TAB Fixed Odds – Click here to back this horse now
David Aiken has this bloke absolutely flying at the moment and after running huge races through the Great Southern Star series behind Vulcan he was simply stunning winning the Coulter Crown last week from the front end in fast time.  He gets back to his more favoured mobile tonight, should cruise straight to the top and from there they won’t beat him.

Frith (Race 7 no. 9) $3 TAB Fixed Odds – Click here to back this horse now
Star NSW filly who was dominant through the recent Gold Chalice series at Bathurst before impressively winning her heat of tonight’s Oaks Final last week where she worked to the breeze, enjoyed a soft first quarter and proved too slick for her combatants over the concluding stages.  I think she will get to the chair once more tonight without too much hassle and be too good for them again.

Purplepeopleater (Race 11 no. 5) $1.80
Was outstanding winning the Breed For Speed Bronze Series Final on this circuit three back and after proving much too classy in a heat of the VSTA Cup here two back she went on to run an unlucky second to Wildenstein in the Final where she charged home after busting loose of a pocket in the straight.  She will find tonight’s race slightly easier and should bounce back into the winners list.

BEST VALUE BET

Stoned I Am (Race 1 no. 7) $7
This guy ran the race of his life last week in the Coulter Crown when third behind the flying My High Expectations, and with all due respect to his rivals tonight, none of them would dream of getting as close to that fellow as he did on that occasion.  He draws widely here and will need a bit to go his way but he drops a mile in grade, gets back to the mobile conditions and I think he is in with a terrific chance.

QUADDIES X2 $100 Spend
1,2,4,6,8,9,10/ 1,4,6,7/ 5/ 4,9.  $56 gets you 100%
1,2,4,6,8,9,10/ 1,4,6,7/ 5/ 6,10,11,12,13.  $44 gets you 31.42%

BIG6’S X2 $100 Spend
1,5/ 1,2,4,6,8,9,10/ 1,4,6,7/ 5/ 4,9/ 1,3,7,9.  $55 gets you 12.27%
1,5/ 1,2,4,6,8,9,10/ 1,4,6,7/ 6,10,11,12,13/ 1,3,7,9.  $45 gets you 4.01%

Best Bet

Lennytheshark (Race 9 no. 9) $1.80 ($50 Win)
I have a fair deal of respect for Timeseel (5) but this John Justice-trained NSW Oaks winner is an absolute star. He has been huge in almost every run this preparation and could sit anywhere in transit and still run this lot down. $1.80 is unlikely but even if we get $1.50 I still reckon he’s worth a massive whack.

Best Value

American Muscle (Race 4 no. 1) $4.50 ($25 Each Way)
If you put a line through this bloke’s disappointing Mildura Cup heat performance when way up in both class and distance last start he’s be $1.70 in this. I’m not willing to throw the baby out with the bath water so he gets another chance for mine at what should be Each Way odds and I’ll also be targeting him in a Money Race.

Best Roughies

Wartime Sweetheart (Race 5 no. 2) $13 ($12.50 by $37.50)
This bloke has really stepped up over the last season or two and fully deserves to be mixing it at FFA level these days. He was not far away from Blucolla Tigerpie in the best form reference for this race – The Lightning Mile – last start and given he’s a massive chance of lobbing the 1x1 behind stablemate & favourite, Jaccka Clive, the $13 looks very attractive.

Best Place Only

Sporty Mac (Race 12 no. 2) $26 ($50 Place)
I don’t reckon this guy’s got much chance of winning but in a pretty weak race he will be first to the pegs and may even hand up ascendancy to stablemate V C Devil (7) in transit. He’s no moral to run a drum but if you’re getting $4 the place then you should get involved.

The Money Races

Race 4
As mentioned above, I’m taking the risk that American Muscle (1) will bounce back to his best here, and if he does then he’ll run top-two for sure. If not, it could be off to the spelling paddock w/ our cash in the can!

1/ 4,6,8,9/ 4,6,8,9. $48 gets 400%
1/ 4,6,8,9/ 2,3,5,10,11. $20 gets 100%
4,6,8,9/ 1/ 4,6,8,9. $24 gets 200%
4,6,8,9/ 1/ 2,3,5,10,11. $8 gets 40%

Race 7
This is as wide open as any feature race I can remember but I’m still fairly sure that Frith (9) will run top-two. An ultra-reliable filly, she has something on most if not all of these for class and importantly, she will put herself into the race, most likely from the breeze and fight out the finish as a result. As mentioned, it’s as wide as you like outside here so play accordingly and hope for some value in exotics.

9/ 3,4,6,8,10,11,12,13/ Field. $80 gets 100%
3,4,6,8,10,11,12,13/ 9/ Field. $20 gets 25%

Race 9
As mentioned above, I think Lennytheshark (6) is a certainty here and Timeseel (5) is almost as likely to finish second. As a result I’m smashing three skinny Trifectas to try and make some coin.

6/ 5/ 1,2,8. $75 gets 2500%
6/ 1,2,8/ 5. $15 gets 500%
6/ 5/ 3,4,7,9. $10 gets 250%

Sectional Superstar

Fire It Up (Race 4 no. 8) $10
There were plenty of eye-catching runs from the Victoria oaks heats including those from Getya Wings Out and Mary Mon but this veteran has been flying of late and after pacing a sub-1:55 mile at Melton last weekend he’s a big hope in heat two of the Swift Signs Rising Stars Pace.
