THE GAME PLANS for Melton

BEST BETS/ALL UP

Smudge Bromac (Race 5 no. 6) $2
This guy was amazing in defeat here three runs ago when second to Cut For An Ace after doing plenty of work in the run and his two efforts since behind Our Blackbird in the Echuca Cup and Five Star Anvil in the Bob Cain Memorial at Kilmore have been terrific.  He is beautifully placed tonight with the claim for Dave Moran and I can see him rolling to the breeze without too much hassle and from there I doubt they will be able to hold him out.

Bespoke Artist (Race 10 no. 6) $2
I was really taken by this fellow’s debut victory at Geelong 17 days ago where he began well from the pole draw to lead, cruised along at the head of affairs and ripped home in 27.9 with plenty up his sleeve.  He will find tonight’s race a little harder and will more than likely have to park outside of Paint The Hammer but I still think he will be a shade too strong for that fellow.

You can back them straight out for as much as you like but I’m going to take them in an all up for $100 and if we get close to $400 back I’ll be a happy man.

THE MONEY RACES
Along with having a decent crack at my Best Bet’s above I’m going to play some trifectas in their respective races as well to add a little cream on top.  I’m going to outlay $200 on the below bets, which along with the above all up, Quaddie and Big6 will take my total outlay for the night to a neat $500.  Let the punting begin!

BEST BETS/ALL UP

Majorlook (Race 8 no. 6) $1.30
This guy could be a freak in the making so rate him as the next best thing to a moral in an otherwise fairly moderate affair.

Bespoke Artist (Race 10 no. 6) $2
There are a few with a boom on them in heat two of the APG series for juvenile boys but this guy looks the complete package and I would be shocked to see him get rolled tonight.

BEST VALUE

Cold Sister (Race 1 no. 6) $6
HRV form legend Bill Hutchison has marked this girl at $6 but I can see a flood of support for Aldebaran Shades (3) given his big reputation and if there is I’ll be having a decent Each Way crack here. This girl has exploded in recent times and if she can lob in the first four I think she’ll be extremely difficult to hold out late.

Night Affair (Race 6 no. 8) $8
This bloke disappointed at Hamilton last start but prior to that he ran close-up seconds in 1:52 and 1:52.9 after soft trips on the pegs. He will get a very similar run tonight over his favourite trip an whether he lobs behind the leader or three pegs I’m almost certain he will run a drum at least.

BEST ROUGHIE

Ubringthedrinks (Race 5 no. 4) $11
Pretty simple philosophy here, in that I’m almost certain this bloke will find the front first and then wait for an appropriate horse to sit on in transit. If he does then you can bet confidently that he’ll run a place and also have a little flutter than he may get the prize, although I’m very keen that Smudge Bromac (6) will be a bit too good.

MONEY RACES

Race 3
On exposed form, Real Character (1), Jackatac (2) and Young Modern (8) should have this between them, so tier two Trifectas and hope for a result.

1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ 1,2,4,8,10. $36 gets 200%.
1,2,8/ 1,2,8/ 5,7. $14 gets 116.67%.

Race 4
The scratching of Riviera Kiss (8) has made this an outstanding betting race as Real Bonus (1) should do enough to hold the top w/ Dungeon Queen (9) on her back and the other class runner Steam Washed (3) handy in the run. They should dominate the race if that scenario pans out so play this race as follows:

1,3,9/ 1,3,9/ 1,2,3,7,9. $90 gets 500%.
1,3,9/ 1,3,9/ 4,5. $10 gets 83.33%.

Race 10
As mentioned earlier, I’m very keen on Bespoke Artist (6) and I’ve also got a little question mark on Paint The Hammer (1) so smashing the likely favourite to win and playing  a little wide for second and third.

6/ 1,2,4,12/ 1,2,4,12. $36 gets 300%.
6/ 1,2,4,12/ 8,10. $14 gets 175%.

QUADDIES (x3)
1,3,9/ 6/ 2,4,5,6,8/ 2,6. $45 gets 150%.
1,3,9/ 4,5,10/ 2,4,5,6,8/ 2,6. $45 gets 50%.
1,3,9/ 1,2/ 2,4,5,6,8/ 2,6. $10 16.67%.

STAR TRIALLER

Art Shadow (Race 4 no. 2) $8
Having her first run for Dean Braun tonight and she looks set to run a big race going by her trial victory at Geelong 11 days ago where she finished off in brilliant splits of 27.6 and 28.2 to record a blistering last half of 55.8.  She draws well and would be mighty hard to roll in this if she brings that kind of form to the track tonight.

TABCORP PARK TRAINER TALK - DAVID AIKEN

Best Chance

Bespoke Artist (Race 10 no.6) $2 Click here to bet on this horse now
“I really like this guy; I would say he has to be the best chance I have. He was really good on debut. We expected him to go well and everything worked out for him. He showed us a bit in his trial at Shepparton running a last half of just over 56 and we think he can handle the class rise. I do think he has plenty of improvement left in him, every time he goes to the races or a trial, the next week he works a bit better. He comes out okay but we will just leave it up to Daryl (Douglas, driver) but we won’t be bustling him early but he will have to go forward over the short trip I’d think. He looks like being my best two-year-old at the moment but we don’t have any other colts up and going to compare him too, I wish I had two of him, I’d be really happy but I’m pretty pleased with the one I’ve got.”
Others
Lonestar Legend (Race 7 no.4) $26 TAB Fixed Odds – Click here to bet on this horse now “It’s a pretty tricky race there are some really quick ones drawn inside him and with Andy’s horse (Gath, Caribbean Blaster) it makes it tough. He does keep improving all the time though, I wasn’t going to put him in this race but when I saw the noms I thought it would be a nice race to kick him along a bit further; he should be in the mix somewhere.

Cold Sister (Race 1 no.6) $6 “She’s racing really well and she wasn’t disgraced in her heat of the GSS. She’s very honest and she would have to be in the mix. Aldebaran Shades is an up and comer but my mare is a really good chance in that race.”

Real Bonus (Race 4 no.1) $3 “She’s racing the best she’s ever raced and she is drawn to lead. Steam Washed comes out pretty quick too so we will just have to play it as it comes but she is very good from the top.”

Smudge Bromac (Race 5 no.6) $2
“He comes in with David’s (Moran, driver) claim and he is really knocking on the door. He is going really well, I’m really happy with how he is at the minute. With any luck he won’t be very far away at all.”
