The Game Plan for Horsham – with Jason Bonnington
(@jasonbonnington)
It’s fair to say that no trainer will be responsible for all
eight wins today as was the case at Mildura last night and the programme should
also discriminate itself from last night’s card by hosting a number of
reasonably priced winners. In that spirit, I’m leaving all Best Bets to one
side in preference for a Best Value wager. Two Nest Roughies, a Money Race and
some Quads.
Best Value ($30 Each Way)
G K Galleon (Race 5 no. 8) $4.20
I’ve always had a reasonable opinion of this guy and while I
still don’t think he’s racing at his absolute best I do think his last couple
of runs are a good step in the right direction. The draw is awkward,
particularly with no Sprint Lane at Horsham but whether he follows peg-line
runs or gets off early on I think he can make his presence felt in this sort of
field.
Best Roughie ($5 x $25)
Metromint (Race 5 no. 4) $26
I’ve been a fan of this mare right from her very first start
and it’s been pleasing to see her exceed expectations across her 35-start
career. This is a speculative wager as the field is strong and she is first up
from a break but she has trialled well in preparation for today and if the race
is run to suit she can certainly fill a hole.
Forced Out (Race 7 no. 1) $21
I wanted to have a little Each Way dig at this guy on the
abandoned Hamilton meeting last week from this very same draw so I’m happy to
maintain the faith for a small amount once again today. As mentioned then, I
think he’s been pretty luckless in a number of recent runs and with no
superstars among his rivals here I’m happy to take the Each Way paper odds.
The Money Race – Race 6 (Flexi Trifectas for $60)
Keayang Storm (7) should bully its way to the front
here and prove tough to beat once he gets there while Johnos Jet (9) is
the most gifted horse engaged. It’s for those reasons I think they will
dominate proceedings here with Blazing Courage (6) and Ark (8) the
other key runners.
7,9/ 7,9/ 6,8. $40 gets 1000%
7,9/ 6,8/ 7,9. $10 gets 250%
7,9/ 7,9/ 1,3. $10 gets 250%
The Quads (x3 for $120)
1,2,4,5,6,8/ 7,9/ 1,3,6,10/ 4. $72 gets 150%
1,2,4,5,6,8/ 7,9/ 2,4,7,9/ 4. $24 gets 50%
1,2,4,5,6,8/ 6,8/ 1,3,6,10/ 4. $24 gets 50%
