The Game Plan for Yarra Valley – with Blake Redden (@BlakeRedden)
We’re
off to Wine Country today and there is a good mix of class horses taking on
lesser opposition and wide open racing where almost anything can win. The first
half of the game plan will rely on the better horses getting the nod however we
plan to go very wide in the Quaddie and simply hope for a slice of what might
be a massive dividend.
Best
Bets / All Up ($40)
Baranduda
(Race 2 No.5) $2.10
This guy had to park up against
what looks a pretty promising horse in Macterra Lad last time. He loomed on the
bend but the winner ran away from them while he battled on OK for sixth. The
smaller field here means he should be able to control the race if he rolls
forward in the early stages and a return to either of his previous placings
behind Punch Line and Our Cavort prior would see him very hard to beat today.
Rocknroll
Music (Race 3 No.4) $1.70
In a race that looks between just
two or three of them, I think this guy is a horse on the way up and we could be
seeing his arrival in the next few starts. He is a half-brother to Maffioso and
while things didn’t pan out two starts back, he put the writing on the wall
with a thoroughly dominant win last time. He has shown very good early gate
speed in his last two starts so don’t be surprised if he crosses them at the
start and leads them a merry dance.
Im
Havinaball (Race 4 No.1) $2.20
While this girls record might
read 0 wins from 11 starts, I can promise you she is a lot better than that.
She was just 3 metres behind Claudys Princess last time and has shown
flickering’s of being up with some of the better trotters in her age and sex
throughout her career. She is still learning but provided she gets off the arm
okay, it’s hard to see her getting beaten today.
The
Money Race
Race
1 ($40 worth of Flexi Trifectas)
Although Artistic Angel (7) has only had the 3 starts, they were all in APG
races, firstly with a nice third in her heat before finishing sixth behind
rising start Supersonic Miss in the Semi-Final and finally rounding off with a
third in the consolation. Provided Awesome
Cullect (6) isn’t a superstar, this race could be all about the margins but
we will play a save trifecta just incase.
7/1,6/1,3,4,5,6. $24 gets 300%
6/1,7/1,3,4,5,7. $16 gets 200%
Race
8 ($40 worth of Flexi Trifectas)
Punchinello
(6) was going around in some
of the better 3C0 races earlier this term and running with credit so although
he hasn’t trialled upon resumption, we can assume that if he is anywhere near
his best then he will be very hard to defeat however Anna Faye (3) was pretty good winning on debut in Australia for
Alison Chisholm and can improve so we will play the below trifectas.
6/3/1,4,7,9. $24 gets 600%
3/6/1,4,7,9. $16 gets 400%
Quaddies
(x4 worth $130)
4,5,6,9,11/1,3,4,8/5,8,9/6. $40
gets 66.66%
4,5,6,9,11/1,3,4,8/5,8,9/3,4. $40
gets 33.33%
4,5,6,9,11/5,6,10/5,8,9/6. $22.50
gets 50%
4,5,6,9,11/5,6,10/5,8,9/3,4.
$22.50 gets 25%
