The Game Plan for Bendigo - with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
Best Bet ($50 Win)
Union Belle (Race 9 no. 7) $2
Normally the thought of having a Best Bet in a no-lifetime-wins race for horses 3YO and older would make me queasy but the fact of the matter is this girl should be around flip of the coin odds and given she has as much money in the bank as all of her rivals combined and she was huge in defeat last time out I'm willing to break a general rule and make her the main focus of our night.
Best Value ($10 x $15)
Indiana Angel (Race 1 no. 1) $8.50
In a race with plenty of question marks which has only been further confused by the inclusion of Real Elegance (2) this girl will lob behind the leader or three pegs at worst - and ideal place to be over the 1650m trip at Bendigo - and after an encouraging debut run she's woth an Each Way ticket.
Metromint (Race 5 no. 8) $4.50
This is another wide-open affair but I have been following this mare since her career kicked off and given she too will be behind the leader or three pegs at worst over the Bendigo mile and she was huge in defeat last time out I'm also happy to back on an Each Way basis.
Marita Lousie Ok (Race 6 no. 10) $5.50
A bit like our previous Best Value bet this is another mare I've been tracking for a very long time and while she'll have her work cut out against Rosalie Bay (9) she has a more consistent record from the strands and races well at Lords Raceway (16:2-2-1) so is alsow orth an Each Way wager.
Pine Plains (Race 7 no. 3) $5.50
Here we have yet another race confused by question marks over the leading chances and on trial form alone this pacer should be good enough to fill a hole and very possibly take this out tonight.
The Money Race - Race 3
The philosophy here is pretty simple. Salem (2) shoudl lead Little Red Cloud (1) shopudl sit on his back and from there they shoudl dominate the race. I'm taking two F4's in the hope of getting some value out of the race.
