Good Form Preview - Monday @ Charlton

Charlton is a pretty unique track but it does usually favour frontrunners and those on the pegs so we are going to target one Money Race where we’ll be hoping for some peg-line domination late in the programme. I’m also keen on two squaregaiters at pretty handy odds plus a Star Trialling Best Roughie and some Quads in the hope we’ll kick off this massive week w/ a bang!

Best Bets/ Best Value ($25 Each Way)

Atego Lilly (Race 3 no. 12) $11
I should make the caveat before I begin that it’s exceedingly unlikely you’ll get double figures about this mare, but I’d be happy w/ half this quote if TAB are willing to dish it up. Some key factors in her favour are that she’s racing at or near the peak of her powers, she’s overcome big handicaps in the past and she has a terrific record at this course (5:1-2-2) so rate her as a genuine Each Way special.

Sunset Tour (Race 8 no. 4) $4.20

The odds are quite a bit smaller here but they’re still god enough for an Each way whack. The reasons I’m keen on this bloke are that he’s an excellent beginner who’ll probably head these off, he’s probably as talented as any trotter engaged yet most of his main rivals will spot him 10 or 20m at the start and he has the services of gun reinsman Nathan jack to boot. That’s good enough for me.

Best Roughie/ Star Trialler ($10 x $40)

The Conmans Luck (Race 5 no. 1) $21
This guy has a bizarre figure formline of s7sbs next to his name but he has obvious ability, which was outlined when he took out a recent trial rating 2:01.8 and finishing off in 58.2 at Maryborough. There are no promises here but he simply shouldn’t be at such exorbitant odds so have something Each Way and hope his manners hold up.

The Money Race – Race 7

This is the race I spoke about earlier where I think there are two possible scenarios: either Blissfull Hart (1) holds the top with Smokinoff (8) on his back or Neevers (2) rolls to the top with Blissfull Hart (1) on his back. Either way I think those three will dominate the race with precious few others given a chance of even running a drum.
