Without doubt the highlight of tonight’s programme will be watching team McCarthy stablemates Courage To Rule and Excel Stride face off in the Breeders Crown Graduate Pacers FFA, which will also be one of the better betting races of the night. There are a few I’m keen on tonight but I don’t think any of them are certainties so I’m just going to have the one Best Bet at black figure odds, while also attacking three Money Races and the Quads.

Best Bet/ Black Figure Friday

Five Star Anvil (Race 5 no. 7) $2.80
He draws a very ordinary gate courtesy of his excellent record but the at his best this bloke would fire forward early, maybe even work his way to the front and win comfortably from there so have a crack at him straight out and isolate him one-out in your main Quad tonight.

Race 2
Hectorjayjay (3) has enjoyed a super finish to the season and would hardly have been out of place in Sunday’s ABC final for juvenile boys. There is some speed inside him here and if he can speed to the lead with Motor Smoker (1) on his back then they should dominate the race.

Race 4

The class will almost certainly rise to the top here with Stoned I Am (8), Lightning Joy (1) and Elegant Image (5) my top three selections in order and Earl Of Mot (6) the only other winning hope. Play the below First 4 and you should come away with a fair bit more than you started.

Race 7

Given he’s one of Australia’s best half-dozen horses, Excel Stride (12) really should win this race quite comfortably. The draw is an obstacle but if he finishes any worse than second I’ll be gobsmacked. The only hopes of beating him for mine are stablemate Courage To Rule (1) and Bettor Give It (2) but a few others here can run a drum.
