Good Form Preview - Friday Night @ Tabcorp Park

The Game Plan for Melton – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
Best Value ($20  Each Way)
A Loan Again (Race 1 no. 12) $9
The opening event is more open than the Sydney heads but this former Kiwi trotter could not have been more impressive when trailing up three wide and two back before descending on his rivals at this course last time out. Champion reinsman Chris Alford takes the steer once again tonight and a repeat performance would make the $9 look pretty good.

Realy Under Fire (Race 6 no. 10) $4.50
Village Peach (2) did trial impressively for new mentor Emma Stewart recently but on the score of raceday performance, the others here cannot match it with Realy Under Fire (10). A talented  3YO taking on older horses (which is usually a recipe for success) he is unlikely to pay anything like $4.50 tonight but even at 6/4 he’s worth a decent crack.

Best Roughies ($10 x $30)
Snow Cone (Race 3 no. 11) $13
I would certainly not elevate this filly to any sort of star status but she’s pretty genuine and to be honest she’s the equal of mist if not all of her rivals on the combined score of form and talent. The gate is a minor drawback but if she gets a nice cart into the race they’ll know she’s there and the double figure odds do look appealing.

Gohardorgohome (Race 4 no. 7) $11
Pretty simple philosophy here: this bloke is a sizzling beginner off the mobile arm and while he does have some speed drawn inside him, if Dash can get a flyer from the widest front line draw and spear him to the lead, this bloke can definitely figure in the finish, so $11 is appealing and even $7 would be good enough to play.

Star Style (Race 9 no. 7) $13
I had this pegged as a good old two horse race so you can imagine my surprise when I saw this chestnut mare at $13. Four starts back she beat a much better field than this over the 1720m trip and even with only seven runners engaged you can make her Each Way as a faultless display will see her finish top-two.

Quaddies
1/ 6,10,11,12,13/ 2,12/ 10. $30 gets 300%
1/ 6,10,11,12,13/ 2,12/ 4,6. $20 gets 100%
3,4,6,7,9/ 6,10,11,12,13/ 2,12/ 10. $40 gets 100%
3,4,6,7,9/ 6,10,11,12,12/ 2,12/ 4,6. $10 gets 10%

Star Triallers
Village Peach (Race 6 no.2) $3.20
Most punters will already be onto this but the above mare recently made a key stable change and since joining the all-powerful Emma Stewart barn she has already trialled the house down at Ballarat rating 2:01.8 and finishing off in 57.3. She also lines up in a winnable race tonight so must be respected for sure.
Five Star Anvil (Race 7 no.10) $1.80
The former Kiwi Mildura Cup winner resumes tonight having out-sprinted Smoken Up in a 56.66-second last half in a trail at this course before that champion pacer narrowly turned the tables on him in even slicker late numbers earlier this week. He is the class factor here and those trials are a very encouraging sign.
