Bill ‘Hutchy’
Hutchison (@Hutchysays)
Bookmaker, broadcaster & enduring harness legend Bill
‘Hutchy’ Hutchison has a singular philosophy on the punt: play for value. After
decades of framing markets, Hutchy rarely falls into short-priced favourites
and his massive, nationwide following will attest to the form genius’ uncanny
ability to uncover value on an eerily regular basis.
Below is how he’s playing @ Bray Raceway tonight!
Best Bet
Mister Independent
(Race 6 no. 4) ($2.50)
As mentioned above, I’m not into declaring short priced
favourites but I’m confident this guy would have beaten Stoned On Jazz last
start if he’d applied more pressure in the run & while his record of two
wins from 20 starts doesn’t look flash I reckon he’s got the potential to be a
real quality trotter.
Best Value
Isabella Delacour
(Race 1 no. 2) ($12)
My modus operandi is finding horses at better odds than they
should be and this mare certainly fits the bill. She drew the second line, was
forced wide & stuck on strongly last start and given she draws the front
line this time around the double-figure quote seems generous indeed.
Mickey Mac (Race 5
no. 9) ($10)
One of the veteran members of the Emma Stewart team, this
bloke produced a pretty good run in a strong stand start affair at Melton last
time out and with Gavin Lang in the cart he should get every possible chance
here. Don’t leave him out of your Quaddies tonight.
Quick Armbro (Race 9
no. 5) ($7)
He has been going great guns opposing much better fields
than what he meets tonight. Importantly, he also draws to find the lead here
and he’ll be awfully difficult to beat if he finds the top.
Best Roughie
Rodrigo (Race 7 no.
8)
Former Kiwi pacer Kotare Roland is nearly a good thing in
the feature race of the night but I still advise punters to respect Rodrigo. A
sit-sprint specialist with more than his fair share of ability, he draws for a
soft trip and will only need some luck when it matters to figure in the finish.

Best Trifectas
Looks a favourite’s night with a number of short-priced
commodities so I think the best way to extract some cash out of the meeting is
via Trifectas. I’ve isolated four races in which to play and I’ll be spending
$50 on each for a total outlay of $200.

BLACK BOOKERS – (Racing Tonight)
Mister Sheedy (Race 7 no. 5) ($3.50)
Was game in defeat behind Kotare Roland in his heat of
tonight’s final after parking out first up from a break and will benefit
greatly from the outing. He was sharpened up for this with a solid trial here
last Monday night and expect this guy to be up on the pace making a real race
of it with the favourite. Click
here to view the run.
American Muscle (Race 7 no. 9) ($8)
He has looked awesome in both wins back from a break with
his all-the-way heat success over Mister Onetwo 9 days ago a good pointer for
tonight’s final. He is much better suited when he can lead, which won’t happen
tonight, but he will get a nice run through early and looms as the upset
material. Click

STAR TRIALLERS – (Racing Tonight)
Bit Of A Babe (Race 2 no. 12) ($2)
Mixed it with some of the best fillies around last season
and looks ready to go first up after winning a trial on this circuit comfortably
last Monday, finishing off in 27.9. She has the extreme gate over the sprint
trip to contend with, plus a worthy foe in Pressplay, but her class should take
her a long way towards winning this.
Hung Jury (Race 5 no. 4) ($3.50)
Resumes from a break tonight off the back Geelong and Melton
trial victories in recent weeks and this more than handy 7YO looks primed for a
first up kill. He normally leaves the mobile well, will be looking for a
forward position and in a race of numerous chances he is worthy of an
investment fresh.
BLACK BOOKERS – (Melton Last Night)
In Monaco
Came from well back and was the widest runner on
straightening when fast-finishing fifth to Well Hello Dolly at the end of a
56.2 final half. He is much better suited off the front row and with that run
sure to benefit him he is one to follow when he gets into a winnable affair. Click
here to view the run.
Vinni Gambino
Was noted making up plenty of ground out wide on the track
from the rear when fifth to Astral Flight and would have run a slippery last
quarter. He is no star but he looks certain to bust his metropolitan maiden
status in the not too distant future in a low-grade M0 from a favourable draw. Click
