Money Races
Race 4
The front line draw should ensure the very exciting Vanderley (6) gets the chocolates here. Almost equally confident that Major Calipso (10) will run second but have made a couple of provisions if he only ends up third. Here’s how I’m playing for $100 outlay.
Exacta 6 to beat 10 for $60.
Trifecta 6/ 4/ 10 for $30.
Trifecta 6/ 8/ 10 for $10.
Race 7
This is a great betting race because two runners are head & shoulders above their rivals and the third pick also seems far superior to those beneath him. It would be a massive shock if Our Crime Of passion (5) & Metro Mike (3) don’t fight this out with Narre Boy (8) the only one likely to split them on the line. As a result I’m playing two Trifectas for $100 outlay like this.
3,5/ 3,5,8/ 3,5,8. $60 gets 1500%.
3,5/ 3,5,8/ 1,6. $40 gets 500%.
Quaddies (x5)
6/ 1,2,6,9/ 6/ 3,5. $24 gets 300%.6/ 1,2,6,9/ 1,2,4,8,10,11/ 3,5. $48 gets 200%.
6/ 1,2,6,9/ 7,9/ 3,5. $4 gets 50%.
10/ 1,2,6,9/ 6/ 3,5. $8 gets 100%.
10/ 1,2,6,9/ 1,2,4,8,10,11/ 3,5. $16 gets 33.3%.

Best Bets
Machin Out (Race 5 no. 6) ($3.20)
He is in good form and may find the lead so in a tricky race he looks the clear top pick.
Metro Mike (Race 7 no. 3) ($2.20)
He was terrific first up when doing all the work and finishing off strongly in a 26.9-second final quarter for third behind Steam Washed and Real Hammer a fortnight ago. This looks a two horse race between him and Our Crime Of Passion and from the alley I think he will prevail.
Best Value
Look Here Bloke (Race 2 no. 6) ($7.50)
This guy would be a lot shorter on his good Melton fourth
last weekend but for the fact that he hasn’t won a race since September 2010.
His was a good effort last week and he appeals as the Each way value in a
skinny sort of race.
Quaddie
6,10/ 1,6,7,8,9,10/ 1,4,6,7,9,10,11/ 3,5. $100 gets 59.52%.
Star Triallers (Racing Tonight)
Bellmac Kody (Race 1 no. 2) ($2.50)
This guy had a super juvenile campaign and returns to racing off two trials, the most impressive of which saw him cruise home by 15m at Bendigo 10 days back. He is not always 100% reliable from the strands but with any luck at all here he is the one to beat.
Vanderley (Race 4 no. 6) ($1.70)
This fellow hasn’t been seen since defeating a strong field on debut back in may but his effort to claim a Ballarat trial in slick late numbers (58.3-sec last half) is enough to suggest he’ll return to the track in winning from.
Glenhuggard (Race 6 no. 6) ($4)
He has a very ordinary figure formline but has only just switched over to join Jason Sant and prepared for his return to racing with an outstanding Tabcorp Park trial effort where he finished second to the hugely talented Flaming Flutter in a last half of 57.18. A repeat of that performance would see him well in the winning mix here.
Did you know the horse that produced the quickest last half at Melton on Victoria Cup night is racing again this weekend? Or that their estimated pre-post price is $6.50 at Melton’s Tabcorp Park? What about who ran the fastest last mile at Melton on Saturday night? Surely it was Victoria Cup winner Caribbean Blaster who came from the clouds in the brutally run Grand Circuit classic to claim his rivals on the line. Amazingly, it was not. It was actually one of the beaten brigade behind Decorated Jasper in the Casey Classic, often seen as the Vic Cup consolation race.
