The Game
Plan for Charlton – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
Best Bet
Bookkeeper
(Race 6 no. 7) ($2.40)
Put simply,
this bloke appears to have more ability than his rivals and given his gate
speed and toughness the wide front line draw should not worry him a bit. The
only little concern is he’s thrown in two top runs and two ordinary ones but if
he’s on his A game, he’ll lead or breeze and be too good.
Best Value
Zurbaran
(Race 7 no. 11) ($6)
This guy has
tested the patience of punters in recent weeks but today’s class of race is
right up his alley and as long as he’s not stone motherless in transit he’s my
top tip at each way odds.
Gee Mae
(Race 8 no. 7) ($7)
He is engaged
in a pretty strong race but this guy has impressed in his short career to date.
He has a brutal racing style so expect him to push forward, find the lead or
the breeze and prove pretty tough to get past on the small Charlton track.

Race 3
Featuring two
Star Triallers listed below in Now Shezaterror (1) and Maybe Better
(3), this race is very skinny on serious winning chances, with Our Great
Spirit (5) the only other real blowout hope. They should run the Tri, but
I’ll be playing a little saver just in case things don’t go to plan.
1,3,5 Boxed.
$60 gets 1000%.
1,3,5/ 1,3,5/
4,8,9. $40 gets 222.22%.
Now
Shezaterror (Race 3 no. 1) ($2.20)
She is a
nicely bred Kiwi mare who is first up in Australia today. She didn’t set the
world on fire winning the second of two Victorian trials at Tabcorp Park but
with the Adam Kelly/Gavin Lang polish plus the aid of barrier one, she’s
definitely worth keeping safe in the third event today. Click here to
view her latest trial.
Maybe
Better (Race 3 no. 3) ($2.60)
A beautifully
bred half sister to former multiple Group 1 winning filly Staccato, this girl
kicks off her career today, but if she produces anything like her trial form,
which has included two Shepparton successes, then she in the one to beat on
debut. In the first of those qualifiers, she rated 2:01.5 and finished off in
58.6 to beat Modern Lebron, while on November 15 she went 2:02.5 and zipped
home in 57.5. They are great numbers for a race of this nature. Click here to view
her latest trial.
Lord
Chaterlia (Race 5 no. 9) ($26)
This guy
comfortably won a recent hit-out on this course and while his numbers weren’t
anything to write home about, his isn’t a strong race today and he draws to get
a cheap trip on the pegs.
Black
Bookers (Shepparton yesterday)
Ohoka
Courage
This bloke
was a Good Form Black Booker going into yesterday’s affair and despite being
beaten by almost 23m he is still worth following up. Dropping out to last from
his wide, second line draw, he was looking for runs all the way up the straight
and certainly would have finished much closer with any luck at all in transit. Click here to view the run.
