The Game Plan for Warragul – with Jason Bonnington
(@jasonbonnington)
It’s a pretty tricky day @ Logan Park but if we play our
cards right there’s still some folding to be made.
Money Races
Race 1
A lot of runners engaged here are really struggling for one
reason or another but Shapely Hips (1) & In The Present (5) are
both actually going pretty well and were both impressive enough at their most
recent starts to suggest they’ll fight this race out today. I’m playing two
Trifectas for a total spend of $60 as outlined below.
1,5/ 1,5/ 2,3,6,8,10,11. $36 gets 300%.
1,5/ 2,3,6,8,10,11/ 1,5. $24 gets 200%.
Race 5
This is another race where you can put a pen through a fair
few runners and given it’s over the short course I’d be surprised if anything
emerges from the back to run into a placing so playing around with some
Trifecta combinations below in the hope of snaring some value.
3,5/ 1,3,4,5/ 1,3,4,5. $24 gets 200%.
1,3/ 1,3,4,5/ 1,3,4,5. $12 gets 100%.
3,5/ 1,3,4,5/ 6,8,9,10. $24 gets 100%.
Best Value
The Silver Dart (Race 5 no. 4) ($6.50)
This bloke has a terrible figure formline next to his name
but he thrives when able to lead over the sprint trip on tight tracks; as
evidenced by his pillar to post win here back in August. He’s a quick beginner
and if he finds the top you’re in for a pretty good ride but if he doesn’t
you’re in trouble!
Obama (Race 7 no. 6) ($4.50)
This guy was going really well before taking on some big
guns at Melton last time out. The tight track may be slightly against him but
the small field is ideal and he should give you an Each Way run in today’s
final race.
Quaddie
1,3,6,8,9/ 3,4,5/ Field/ 2,4,5,6,8. $100 gets 19.05%.
In The Present (Race 1 no. 5) ($4.50)
It was a giant effort by this fellow to cop a severe check
coming off the back straight the final time at Ballarat the final time yet
still be good enough to charge home for a very narrowly beaten second behind
Ruby Heart. Put simply, he should be a C1 & ineligible for this race so the
fact that he still qualifies makes him a massive winning chance. Click here to view the run.
Star Trialler - (Racing Tonight)
Wills Son (Race 4 no. 3) ($6)
This guy has been transferred to the care of Rosemary Coram
since his first preparation and gave every indication he would resume with a
bang by winning a Cranbourne qualifier in a slippery final half of 56.9 before
another close-up trial effort behind one of his rivals today in Katesaroyal. He
has been well treated at the draw and shouldn’t be too far away based on those
trial efforts.
Black Bookers – (Stawell Yesterday)
Flyin Fox
He is a talented and versatile four-year-old pacer who was
driven more aggressively that at his previous start yesterday and literally
dominated his rivals as a result. He’s always shown more than his fair share of
ability and should be winning much better races than this as he continues his
charge through the grades. Click here to view the run.
Arber
Brooke
Hansen-trained pacer who has looked a Country Cup type ever since winning The
Graduate at three years of age, he indicated he’s getting closer to a regional
feature success when emerging from the rear to finish a close-up fourth in the
Stawell Pacing Cup. Look for him to draw well in similar races over coming weeks
and months. Click here to view the run.
