I can honestly say that I’ve rarely assessed a tougher meeting than this, so once again I’m very glad to have The Guru on board to really spread the load. Having said that, the card does get more appealing the further you get into it and if you target my 1 Best Bet, 4 Best Value/ Roughie selections, 1 Money Race and Quads we should end up on the positive side of the ledger.
Best Bet ($40 Win)
Gohardorgohome (Race 6 no. 3) $3.25This guy is by no means a moral but he has plenty of things on his side here which include: 1) The fact that he’s fighting on home turf 2) He’s a brilliant beginner who should lead early and have options once he does 3) He loves short course racing 4) He’s probably flat out the best horse engaged. If things don’t go to plan early we’re in trouble but if they do he’s the one to beat for sure.
Best Value ($20 Each Way)
Doey Doeback (Race 1 no. 6) $4.60There’s actually not a lot between this bloke, Nuggetpan (7), Lets Go Rabbitoh (8) & Sirladyn Reba (9) but I’m confident he’ll work his way to the front and if he can get a mid-race breather as expected he’s certainly the one they have to roll.
Im Demimondaine (Race 4 no. 8) $4.50
Once again we’ll be relying on the start here because Mister Gunsen (1) is a 95% of holding the early lead and if he does and out mare keeps his back then we’ll be sitting pretty as an even money chance. If things don’t pan out early she can still win but you’d want every cent of the $4.50 quoted in today’s Herald Sun.
Kremlin (Race 7 no. 8) $10
This bloke is a dead-set ambush artist who ALWAYS runs his best races when lobbing the leader’s back in transit. He looks a better than even money hope of doing just that tonight and while I don’t think we’ll be getting the double figure quote offered up in today’s Herald Sun, I’d be happy enough for $5 tonight.
Mister Orion (Race 7 no. 10) $14
My love affair w/ this guy can blind me at times but at his best he’s a fair bit better than his rivals here. The conditions don’t necessarily suit but if they burn early as looks a distinct possibility he’ll be charging in the lane.

Best Bet
Race 3 No 7 Eliseos Falcon $2.90 ($100 Win)
This guy sat
outside the leader in a slowly run first half two runs back at Ararat and was
too strong for his opposition in the lane. Last start he did it pretty tough
sitting outside exciting youngster Yankee Rockstar in quick time and his effort
to battle on for third was a good one. He is likely to press forward at the
start and he should be suited by the rise to the middle distance.
Best Value
Race 1 No 7 Nuggetpan $4.80 ($25EW)
This guy overcame
the second row draw to win two runs back at Swan Hill. Last start he settled
too far back from the second row to challenge but he really caught the eye late
finishing just off the placegetters sustaining a long wide run. He has a tricky
draw on the outside of the front line here but if he has any luck in running he
will be right in contention.

Black Booker (Racing Tonight)
Salute The Wind (Race 4 no. 9)This bloke is low flying at the moment and should flourish back to the mobile conditions after a massive effort off the 30m backmark @ Shepparton last time out. Click here to view his most recent run.
Star Trialler
Lysenko (Race 4 no. 4)This guy hasn’t been seen at the races since putting in a poor performance a month ago where he seemingly couldn’t keep up at Shepparton even though he was in the market. His trial win last Thursday however suggests he is back to near his best.
Despite having a soft run 3 back on the pegs for much of the trial, he hooked out 4 and 5 wide on the point of the bend and was never really extended as he swooped past his squaregaiting rivals.
To watch his trial simply follow this link.
