I’m incredibly excited about tonight’s programme at Bray Raceway, Ballarat. We’ve struggled a little at this course in more recent times but tonight looks a mini-goldmine and if a couple of things go right in our 3 Money Races and we also jag the Quad then our Friday night bank will be well and truly secure.

Happy Hombre (Race 1 no. 10) $5

This bloke has done most of his racing from the standing start in recent times but he is just as adept from the mobile. He loves Ballarat and is the best horse engaged here for mine so if you’re getting anything like the $5 quoted in today’s Herald Sun get on board tonight.

 

The Money Races

Race 3

If Bit Of A Babe (6) finds the pegs first before handing over to Goodtime Marjie (7) here as expected they will dominate the race. I’m rating Its Raining (4) as clearly the best hope of snagging third place but if he doesn’t get there we’ll be hoping for some value.

Race 4

This is a super race where the on-fire Sals Mo (5) should spear to the lead, Regal Knight (7) should cruise up to park and one of them will almost certainly win the race. Fearless Leader (6) looks a clear third pick on exposed form but Our Nancy Miles (1) is a recent recruit to the very astute Ross sugars barn and could figure late with a reasonable beginning.

Race 5

Valentino Rustler (1) has found a new lease on life in recent times and even if he is crossed he should get off the pegs and either lead or play enforcer here while  Desdon Murruffy (9) looks the only serious threat. If they both finish on the podium we’ll be in the money.

This guy gets his chance to break through tonight from the inside of the front row. He is a reliable beginner from the strands and if he can find the lead early it will take a smart one to beat him.

(Race 6 No 6 Modern Hitch) ($25 Each Way) $9

This mare is a good chance of getting across to the pegs first tonight as she has good gate speed and there isn’t a lot of pace drawn inside her. If she does get across she is a strong winning hope and the $9 quoted in today’s Herald Sun looks great value.
