The Game Plan for Swan Hill – with Blake Redden (@BlakeRedden)
Best Bet ($40 win)
Rate Highly (Race 5 No.1) $2.10
This is a serious drop in class after finishing fifth in a heat of the Empire Stallions Vicbred Super Series and while he came three wide there he couldn’t reel in the likes of Winterfeel and Tezz Khora. From the pole he should enjoy a terrific run in transit and his only start at this track produced a win so if he does turn up at better than flip of the coin he will be good value.
Best Value ($25 win)
Quest Front (Race 1 No.6) $3.60
There’s no doubt we’re banking on a bit of luck early because this guy tends to be hit and miss in his gait but the one positive we can take is that he was bolting even though he finished ninth of 12 last time. This race doesn’t look much harder and given his major rivals have to give him 30 metres at the start over the 2240 metres, I’m convinced he is the horse to beat at his absolute best.
The Money Race
Race 7 ($36 worth of Flexi Trifecta’s)
I like the look of this race because Virginia Lightning (1) is honest and consistent and draws to get a good run while Miss Ruthless (2) has found her right sort of race and should be rock hard fit now. For that reason I’ll be playing the following two trifecta’s with a few value chances through the placings.
1,2/1,2/3,5,7,8. $24 gets 300%
1,2/3,5,7,8/1,2. $12 gets 150%
Quaddies (x2 worth $105)
1/7,8,9,10/1,2,3,5/4,8,9,11. $64 gets 100%
3,9/7,8,9,10/1,2,3,5/4,8,9,11. $46 gets 35.9%
