There’s little doubt that Astronaut (5) can ping the arm and lead comfortably here but the key to this guy’s chances is that the likely leader is going well enough to take him to the straight and from there we will only have to pray for an inch of luck to get out. He was unlucky when returning from a little let up last time and prior to failing at Melton he was racking up wins around the Sunraysia so don’t expect that to change tonight.

I’m starting to think this guy could be a little underrated. He has notched up two effortless wins and while they were in a seriously lower class than this, he did run time on debut and he looks like a horse that is ready to progress pretty quickly.  The small field means he won’t be too far from them and at big odds he can roll them for sure.
