THE GAME PLAN for Ballarat – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)
The early part of tonight’s meeting is littered with short-priced favourites where there is no value on offer and I can’t really find a race where I want to play some exotics so I’ve come up with a Best Value Bet, Best Value Place Bet and a Quaddie as the best way to attack the program. Good luck and good punting!
BEST VALUE BET
Evil Trickster (Race 4 no. 6) $6 $15 win x $35 place
This bloke is a fast beginner as a rule and with a lack of any real pace to his inside (besides Kokoda Courage, who normally hands up in his races) the chances of him spearing to the lead and running a cheeky race are high so at what should be nice each way odds I’m going to have a little crack at him.
BEST VALUE PLACE BET
Wipem Dry (Race 7 no. 1) $4 (approx.) $50 place
This fellow will be ready to produce his best tonight after two runs back from a break and I can see him gaining a soft trip behind likely leader Five Oclock Affair so he should get every chance to sneak into a place. The last time he sat behind the lead in a race he finished second to speedy mare Majestic Reign in 1:55.5 at Shepparton. That’s a good enough recommendation right there.
QUADDIES x 2 $100 total outlay
1,5,6,7,8,9/ 4,9/ 1,5,6,8/ 3,5,7,9. $70 gets you 36.45%
1,5,6,7,8,9/ 8,11/ 1,5,6,8/ 3,5,7,9. $30 gets you 15.62%
