The Game
Plan for Horsham – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
First In
Best Dressed
Quite often
with these weekday meetings it’s the second half of the programme which we tend
to target but today it’s all about the first three races and a solid crack at
the Quad. Below I will outline mini Game Plans for the first three events.
Race 1
Put simply Earl
Harbour (7) & Earl Of Charity (10) are travelling much better
than their rivals so while it’s always risky playing tight multiples in
squaregaiting events, this might be an OK race to do just that. I’m carving
this race up as outlined below.
Win
Earl Harbour
($1.90) for $50
Quinella
Earl Harbour
& Earl Of Charity for $50
Race 2
The two key
runners here are Hector Barbossa (6) & Alta Antonio (8). Hector
Barbossa (6) is an SA pacer who was awesome from the death last time &
can either lead or sit parked here & still win while Alta Antonio (8) is
a talented ex-Kiwi who destroyed easier rivals first up in Oz. Hector
Barbossa (6) has the edge at the draw so playing these ways.
Win
Hector
Barbossa ($2) for $50
Trifectas
6/ 8/
2,3,7,9. $28 gets 700%.
8/ 6/
2,3,7,9. $12 gets 300%.
6/ 2,3,/ 8.
$10 gets 500%.
Race 3
The
scratching of Soho Eastwood has made it more likely that Four Sisters (1) &
Goodtime Veejay (5) will finish one-two here with the only danger being
that Four Sisters (1) gets crossed by something else at the start. I
tend to think that Goodtime Veejay (5) will be much too good but he is
on debut so we play a little safer in this race. I’m betting like this.
Trifectas
5/ 1/
3,4,6,10,11,12. $36 gets 600%.
5/
3,4,6,10,11,12/ 1. $14 gets 233.33%.
Quaddies
3,4,5,6,10/
1,2,4,6,7,8,9/ 2,4/ 6,8. $70 gets 50%.
3,4,5,6,10/
1,2,4,6,7,8,9/ 2,4/ 2,4,9,12. $30 gets 10.71%.
Goodtime
Veejay (Race 2 no. 5) ($1.90)
He is the
latest debutante from the all-powerful Emma Stewart team who cruised home in a
Ballart trial on November 4 then went even better when second to the very
talented sapphire Swayze in a Geelong qualifier on November 12. They ran
slow time but zipped home in 57.6 in that latest outing and this guy wouldn’t
have to go much better than he did there to kick his career off with success
today.
Black
Booker – (Racing Tonight)
Zurbaran
(Race 7 no. 6) ($4.20)
This guy has
been a Good Form Black Booker after two of his past three starts. Three runs
back he charged home off slow numbers to nearly nail Franco Templar at Geelong
then he threw in an ordinary run before charging late once more behind Algeepee
at Melton. The draw should ensure he gets well out of his ground yet again but
he’s flying right now and with a genuine tempo he’ll be swamping his rivals
late. Click here to see his most recent run.
Black
Bookers – (Bendigo last night)
Yankee
Avenue
It was an
arrogant performance from Russ Thomson’s renowned rogue to miss the start then
circle the field, take up the running and win untouched against a handy field
yesterday afternoon. His manners are always a concern and he did get things his
own way after finding the front but eh win was still big and he can win much
better races. Click here to see the run.
Chevaux
Rainbow
This mare has
always shown her fair share of potential and her effort first up yesterday when
held up until after acceptances but still good enough to charge home into
second was very encouraging indeed. She should also benefit from the run so
keep an eye on her wherever she lines up next. Click here to view the run.
Robbie
Zuve
This guy is
small in stature but big on heart, as evidenced by his terrific effort last
night at Lords Raceway. Strung up at the back of the field and having to swing
around galloping horses late he made up 20m-plus in a 29.7-second final quarter
to complete his second top display in succession this campaign. He is itching
to win and will do so soon. Click here to view the run.
