Cup Day Good Form - Wine Country

The Game Plan for Yarra Valley – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

Best Bet

Veranjee (Race 7 no. 9) ($1.90)
This guy is in the veteran category but he has found a new lease on life with Ross Sugars and a repeat of his past two runs at Melton today would see him too good in this. I would however like to get flip of the coin odds given the talent of his opposition here.

Best Value

Yankee Avenue (Race 4 no. 11) ($8)
Very talented trotter who simply dominated his rivals when trotting all the way last time out. This is  a step up in grade and he’s drawn poorly but with D Douglas on board once more he’s definitely worth an Each Way wager if he can produce another faultless display.

Quads x 2
1,6,8,11/ 1/ 2,5,6,9/ 9. $64 gets 400%.
1,6,8,11/ 1/ 2,5,6,9/ 1,5. $36 gets 116.67%

Black Bookers (Racing Today)

Hereux Homme (Race 2 no.6) ($6.50)
This guy almost overcame a farcical mid-race tempo (34.6-sec second quarter) to win from the rear at Cranbourne last time out. He meets a superior field here but is an improver and could be your value option today. Click here to view the run.
Veranjee (Race 7 no. 9) ($1.90)
Nine-Year-Old pacer now with Ross Sugars who upset the apple cart when drilling Saucy Vision in a strong MO to M1 heat at Melton before producing an equally impressive effort when running down all but the airborne Chancellor Cullen last time out. He is at the peak of his powers and should go close once again today. Click here to view his most recent run.

Black Bookers (Geelong - Monday)

Cheveyo
This bloke had talent on his rivals but still impressed putting them to the sword from the top end at Geelong yesterday. He’d have been better placed off the front line at Melton Friday night but a repeat of his performance will see him go close to consecutive victories this weekend. Click here to view the run.
Star Triallers (Racing Today)

Hermione (Race 7 no. 1) ($6)
Brilliant pacer who defeated star mare Talaspring at Tabcorp Park trials late last month. She can be devastating over 200-300m so the polemarking draw should ensure she’s very dangerous today.
Fireinthehole (Race 8 no. 7) ($7)
Debutante for Craig Demmler & Jodi Quinlan who won a qualifier at Geelong before finishing second at the Tabcorp Park trials on October 29. He was narrowly beaten by Jungleface Jake there and given that guy resumes in a much better race earlier in the programme punters should have a pretty good guide about what they can expect from this 3YO when he lines up in the get-out stakes.
