Comes off a
devastating Yarra Valley success 12 days ago and was terrific in defeat behind
Chancellor Cullen at Melton prior so it’s fair to say he is in career-best form
for Ross Sugars. He hasn’t seen the standing start for a while and is ODS but he normally handles the tapes well and would only need to go around safely today to be extremely hard to beat.

Capable 4YO
who has been doing his recent racing in NSW where he has snared the silver
medal at Wagga and Goulburn at his past two in fast time for the sprint trip. He faces a
big drop in grade today, draws to be in the firing line throughout and with all
due respect to his opposition he really does look a class above them and should
be winning.Best Roughies

This bloke
has ordinary numbers next to his name but he has been coming off big handicaps
of late and will relish the return to the front line, as he goes best in or
near the lead. The last time he drew off the front in a race he finished a
gallant second to Xanderxav in the Group 3 Coulter Crown at Melton back in
April so at the odds today he is worth a gamble.

Didn’t do
much at his first run for a month at Melton last time behind the impressive
Blucolla Tigerpie but he did run an excellent second to Ronald George at Bendigo
prior where he took a trail on Givitaname before finishing off strongly at the
end of a 56.6 final half. He is a good beginner as a rule and should he be able
to secure a cheap run on the pegs he is capable of surprising at juicy odds.

BOOKER – (Racing Tonight)
Forest
Fury (Race 3 no. 5) ($4)
Charged for
home at the 400m at Horsham last start and looked the winner before just
knocking up the last 100m to go down narrowly behind Lombo Kotakinabalu. He has
a stack of speed and if he gets the right kind of run off the pace today expect
this well-bred son of Bettors Delight to be hard to hold out. Click

TRIALLERS – (Racing Tonight)
Prosecco (Race 3 no. 3) ($9)
She is a
Maree Caldow trained three years old that was beaten narrowly by the subsequent
Maryborough winner Blucolla Moon in a recent Tabcorp Park trial in a mile rate
of 2.3.5 (58.7, 28.9).
Arriens
(Race 3 no. 9) ($5)
Mixed it with
some smart customers in his 6 outings last season and looks ready to go first
up after trialling well at Shepparton in recent weeks. He looks like gaining a
cheap run on the pegs, possibly behind likely leader Miss Elvira and is sure to
be a threat once he sees open road in the stretch.
Kamwood
Jack (Race 6 no. 6) ($3.60)
He’s a handy
6YO who resumes today off the back of an easy Shepparton trial success 10 days
ago where he rated a moderate 2:05.0 but slipped home in 58.2. The wide draw is
a bit of a concern over the 1390m but he does leave the mobile swiftly and can
be dangerous fresh if he gets the right luck in running.
BLACK
BOOKERS – (Melton Last Night)
Nowitzki
Indicated he
will be a major player in the big 3YO races this term after a dominant victory
last night where he just ran from start to finish to record 1:54.9 for the
short course. He showed talent as a 2YO last season and can be followed with
confidence this campaign if last night’s display is anything to go by. Click
here to view the run.
Jordylan
He seems to
be really thriving on being driven sit-sprint these days, as evidenced by his
slashing third to Well Hello Dolly in the Gordon Rothacker Memorial Final last
night. He won in grand style at Melton two back after a soft peg trip and is
capable of winning another race at headquarters this campaign with the right
run in transit. Click

BLACK BOOKER - (Cobram Monday)
Star Style
This girl
galloped away from the mobile and settled last before making a long run out
three wide from the 700m when a game third behind Rainbow Jay Jay at only her
second run from a break. Her first up effort at Bendigo was sound and she is ready
to break through for a win. Click
