We’ve had a good record of sneaking away on the right side of the ledger in recent weeks playing some pretty tricky meeting s but things don’t get any easier @ Hamilton today. This is a minefield of a programme so I’m taking the gently, gently approach by having a couple of Best Bets for not-too-large an outlay plus a couple of roughies & a Money Race. Most of our fortunes, however, will be decided by the Quad, where’ we’re outlaying $150 in hopes of what could be a pretty hefty result!
Best Bets ($25 Win)
Floral Touch (Race 2 no. 2) $4Occasionally, very occasionally, race tactics go out the window & you just have to go w/ whoever is racing in the best form & that is the case with the above mare today. She’s yet to win from 5 cracks @ racing but she has placed four times and with even luck here she should prove just too good.
Miss Dilly (Race 7 no. 4) $4.50
OK – tactics are back on the agenda here! Basically, I see
this mare holding her own early & bullying her way to the front & if
she can do that I think we’ll get the cash. If she cannot things get a little
trickier but we’re still not completely bereft of some winning hope.
Best Roughies ($5 Win $15 Place)
Smooth Mikaela (Race 3 no. 6) $21Solarsonic (4) will lead here and prove terrifically difficult to beat but I thought the $21 about a horse who drops sharply in grade here & has the speed to roll forward early was just too good to ignore.
Master Kiesey (Race 6 no. 9) $26
If this bloke wasn’t trained by Brian Kiesey I reckon he’d
start no longer than $6 here so if we do get something like today’s Herald Sun
price we have to have a little crack.
The Money Race – Race 1
The front line here as some early speed but I’m banking on Promising
Edition (6) flying to the front, dropping anchor & dictating from there.
It’s a small field so we have to play skinny & in an ideal world Ruben
Hall (3) would be our silver medallist today.
