This guy made a couple of early errors before being checked at a crucial stage going off the back when he was winding up and his effort to pick himself up and finish off into second behind Sumo Grin was impressive. I rate the winner as a nice horse in the making so don’t be to perturbed by the relatively slow times there. If he steps a bit better this time then this race looks no harder.

Bellmac Kody (Race 8 No.6) $2.50
David Van Ryn’s team is flying at the minute and not only does this guy have a terrific record behind the tapes (7 from 15), his run last time in a TM0 race where they came home in 57.8secs was more than sound. He drops a fair way in class here and should be able to make his own luck so the price looks overs today.

My Mate Nick (Race 6 No.5) $5

Although this guy is first-up without a trial, he enters the Andy and Kate Gath stable and he finds a suitable race here given he showed a bit of potential towards the end of his last prep. He has a little bit of speed and while he probably couldn’t cross them off the arm, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him roll forward and try to assert his dominance with the main danger Teixeira (7) drawn wide and hasn’t appeared to have a lot of speed in his three starts.

Hezfullarunning (Race 5 No.7) $26

Make no mistake, this is a viciously even race however having his first start back in Victoria last time this guy stuck on really solidly from the chair. In the small field he can sit almost anywhere and still be a live place chance but if lobs an advantageous position in running then I see no reason why he can’t even topple the lot of them.

Reign Of Pain (11) is coming through vastly superior form lines to his rivals and his run two starts ago behind Wolfpack was fantastic and the right sort of form from this. The barrier is a little concern but class should carry him into first or second and from there we can anchor  the early speed Bettor Atom (3) and also Radiant River (5) and Celebrity Lass (7) through two trifectas and hope for a split in third to boost our divvy.
