THE GAME PLANS FOR VICTORIAN HQ
Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
Best Value
National Service (Race 4 no. 12) $4
There are a few two-horse races tonight but very few ‘good things’ so if I was to have a significant crack at anything it would be this guy. A devastating sit-sprinter racing at the peak of his powers, he is drawn awkwardly here but there is good pace off the front line and he will only need a reasonable cart into the race late to blow these away with his superior turn of foot.
Money Races
The usual Friday night plan is to attack two or three races at most and pool our resources but I’ m very excited about tonight’s programme from a punting perspective so I’m playing in seven of the 10 races and I’m very confident of a result. See blow for the full Game Plan.
Race 1
Stormed Out (1) and Indulgent (4) won their heats of this series and they have plenty of their rivals so should be fighting out the prize. Whats The Big Idea (11) is your clear third pick.
1,4/ 1,4/ 11. $40 gets 2000%.
1,4,/ 1,4/ 5,7,8,9. $40 gets 500%.
1,4/ 1,4/ 3,10. $10 gets 250%.
1,4/ 11/ 1,4, $10 gets 500%.
Race 2
Ballochbuie (3) has beaten Restrepo and Charlie Machsheen this campaign and draws to lead them around while Teo Enteo (9) is the class runner who’ll be hunting him down late. Yet again they look very likely to fight this race out but heaps can run third so we’ll play a few different ways.
3,9/ 3,9/ 2,5,10. $42 gets 700%.
3,9/ 3,9/ 4,6,8,11,12. $30 gets 300%.
3,9/ 2,5,10/ 3,9. $18 gets 300%
3,9/ 4,6,8,11,12/ 3,9. $10 gets 100%.
Race 3
There’s very little separating Tara Toplady (1), The Midnight Reign (2), Valiant Sue (4) and Majestic Reign (12) here but they have something on their rivals and should comprise the Trifecta. If not, they should almost certainly make up the Quinella with another few capable of falling into third.
1,2,4,12 Boxed Trifecta. $64 gets 275%.
1,2,4,12/ 1,2,4,12/ 3,5,8. $36 gets 100%.
Race 4
This one is a little risky but I just can’t see Washmepockets (7) or National Service (12) missing a place and I’m also confident one of them will win. Gamblers Rustler (13) is a little concern but one I’m willing to cop.
7,12/ 7,12/ 2,9,10,11,13. $50 gets 500%.
7,12/ 7,12/ 1,5,6,8. $20 gets 250%.
7,12/ 2,9,10,11,13/ 7,12. $30 gets 300%.
Race 6
Very confident that this Tontine Final is a four-horse race between Magical Telf (2), It Is Billy (6), Steam Washed (7) and Fearless Leader (12) and while I respect unbeaten hot favourite Magical Telf (2) I certainly don’t think he’s over the line.
2,6,7,12. $60 gets 250%.
2,6,7,12/ 2,6,7,12/ 1,3,8,10,13. $40 gets 66.67%
Race 9
Machabiba (5) should really win this although Broadway Classic (6) had no luck first up and also has talent. Skinny Tricks are the go in this small field, but hopefully we’re well up by now regardless!
5/ 6/ 1,3,7. $75 gets 2500%.
5/ 7/ 6. $10 gets 1000%.
6/ 5/ 1,3,7. $15 gets 500%.
Race 10
The get-out stakes looks pretty cut and dried. Narree Belle (5) should be too good with Ymbro Toto (4) and Cute Art (6) almost certain to fill the placings.
5/ 4,6/ 4,6. $100 gets 5000%.
Quaddie
7,12,13/ 2,4,5,6,8,10/ 2,6,7,12/ 4,5,9,10,11. $100 gets 27.78%.

Best Bet
Washmepockets (Race 4 no. 7) $5
I know this guy doesn’t like to win very often and is very close to entering the ‘money muncher’ category but I really think this is his race.  He was very good last week when a narrow second to Because I Can after sitting outside of that fellow and tonight he will stroll up outside likely leader Ubringthedrinks, may even get the lead, as that guy is a noted hand up horse, and whether in front or in the breeze I think he will be a touch too strong.  If you get anywhere near the $5 quoted in today’s Herald Sun I suggest you give it the full treatment.

The Money Races
Race 1
This is a final of a C0 series where heats were held at Echuca and Stawell with Stormed Out and Indulgent winning those heats in fine style and they look a class above their rivals tonight.  I think Stormed Out will lead with Indulgent sitting in the breeze and they will dominate proceedings thereafter so I’m going to take the below trifecta for $200 and hope that something at big odds runs third spice up the dividend.
1/ 4/ Field.  $200 gets you 2500%

Race 3
It looks as though The Midnight Reign will get an easy lead here with Tara Toplady (leaders back) and Valiant Sue (in the breeze, or at worst 1 x 1) looking her only dangers so I’m going to play the below trifectas based around the trio for a total spend of $200.
2/ 1,4/ 1,4.  $60 gets you 3000%
2/ 1,4/ 3,5,8,12.  $80 gets you 1000%
1,4/ 2/ 1,4.  $20 gets you 1000%
1,4/ 2/ 3,5,8,12.  $40 gets you 500%

Quaddies x2 $100 outlay
7,12,13/ 1,2,4,5,10/ 2/ 9,10,11.  $50 gets you 111.11%
7,12,13/ 1,2,4,5,10/ 6,7,12/ 9,10,11.  $50 gets you 37.03%

TABCORP PARK TRAINER TALK - ROSS SUGARS
Best Chance
Narree Belle (race 10 no.5) $1.50 Click here to bet on this horse now.
“She’s been a good honest performer working her way through the grades. She seems to do everything right and does her best every time she goes to the races. It’s a small field and she is quick out the gate so she should be in front and take a lot of beating.
Others
Pocket Legend (Race 2 no.11) $9
He’s seems to be better from the front and drawing the second line won’t make it easy for him but he returned to form last time which was promising. When he is drawn behind we are better off to drive him for one run.
Majestic Reign (Race 3 no.12) $10
“She’s done a terrific job for us; she’s another who has performed well from good barriers so with the evenness of the race it won’t be easy from the second row.
Veranjee (Race 5 no.5) $6
“He is in very good form. If he has a bit of luck he should be in the running. It’s a hot field but he is certainly one of my better chances of the night. He’s in great form at the moment.”

SPEED MAPS

STAR TRIALLER

Tara Toplady (Race 3 no. 1) $2.70
Emma Stewart-prepared mare who won a Geelong trial 11 days ago in fine style to ready her for this assignment.  She has the ideal alley, looks like taking the trail on The Midnight Reign and from there she will get every chance to register a first up victory.

BLACK BOOKER – Kilmore Last Night

Doomed
Adam Kelly-prepared 3YO who is still learning but shows promise and he looks ready to win now after producing an excellent effort last night when second to the flying Must Be Nice where he chased hard at the end of a slippery last half.  Expect him to be hard to beat when he steps out next in a suitable race.

SECTIONAL SUPERSTAR

This gelding had a similar second-line draw last week at Melton and was able to record the quickest first quarter of the last mile in 29.22 when he darted through to find himself three-back on the pegs. Not only did he run the quickest first quarter of the last mile, he also made up significant ground running one of the quickest last sectionals for the race in 26.88. He was also within a a tenth-of-a-second to the quickest last fraction for the entire night.

Wartime Sweetheart (Race 5 no.6) $11
This guy ended up four-back on the pegs from a wide second row draw last time however when clear he continued to make ground which culminated in the quickest last quarter for the race of 27.15. He has drawn the front-row this time and despite drawing wide is expected to work forward. If he can reproduce a similar effort in the last part of the race he could be hard to beat.
