Good Form Preview - Wednesday @ Maryborough

The Game Plan for Maryborough – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

All-Up
The best plan when there are a few shorties you can’t see getting rolled is to make some money from them via an all-up. Today there are three; check out the details below and take advantage of a superstar trio racing well out of their class.

The Boss Man (Race 2 no. 2) $1.60 – This guy is an outstanding young trotter who would have tested boom horse Blitzthemcalder last start if not for breaking stride late. He faces easier opposition her and should be a mile too good so long as he stays in gait.

Glenferrie Shuffle (Race 3 no. 3) $1.40 – She is racing a mile below the form that saw her smash the best juvenile fillies in the land last August but it’s still almost impossible to see her getting rolled. If she does lose a spell is on the cards because at her best she’d win this by 20m.

Beauty Secret (Race 7 no. 7) $1.80 – Fantastic young mare who faces the stiffest test of these three given she draws wide over the mile against older horses. Her trial form is excellent however so it’s still tough to see her getting rolled.

$50 on this trio in an All-Up should return you around $200, although they may all start crazy short due to their massive reputations.

Best Value

Shards Of Ice (Race 5 no. 7) $3.30
I’m pretty keen here on an Each Way basis. Here are the facts; this girl has a record of one win and two placings from three starts from the stand. More than a third of her rivals have never even started from the tapes. She also draws to lob handy and thrives when able to find the front. Add to those facts her good record at the track (7:0-2-2), outstanding turn of foot and the added bonus that she’s trained and driven by the very talented Matty Craven & you’ve got a super Each Way play.

The Money Race – Race 3
As mentioned above, this is D-Day for Glenferrie Shuffle (3) and I think she’s up to it. She’ll be even shorter than she should be however, so the best way to make money off her is via a few skinny Trifectas outlined below.

3/ 6,8,9/ 6,8,9. $60 gets 1000%.
3/ 6,8,9/ 1,2. $30 gets 500%.
3/ 6,8,9/ 4,5,7. $10 gets 111.11%.

Quaddies (x3)
1,2,3,4/ 7/ 6,8,9,10,11/ 7. $20 gets 100%.
1,2,3,4/ 3,4,5,8,9,11,13/ 6,8,9,10,11/ 7. $70 gets 50%.
1,2,3,4/ 6,10/ 6,8,9,10,11/ 7. $10 gets 25%.

CAVEAT: If you’re looking at some serious dividends heading into the last leg of this Quad, consider laying-off on any other runners you think might run BEAUTY SECRET down.

Star Triallers – (Racing Today)

Stirling Charmer (Race 4 no. 3) $7
This one-time Nyah Cup winner has troublesome feet but he should have derived great benefit from 10 months off the scene and after ripping home in 57-flat in a Bendigo trial 10 days back, it would certainly seem he’s somewhere near his best. This is a typically strong Leo Crameri but if he’s near his top then there’s no doubt this is within his grasp.

Beauty Secret (Race 7 no. 7) $1.80
Victorian 3YO Filly of the Year last season who has been fitted for her first run this term with two excellent trial efforts; a Beckley Park win on February 18 finishing off in 56.9 and a Tabcorp Park second to Our Crime Of Passion in 1:57.8. That is very encouraging form so while this first up assignment isn’t easy you can still expect her to salute with any luck at all.
