The Skinny Double
Truman (Race 2 no. 9) $1.50 & Timeseel (Race 4 no. 6) $1.40
I’m well aware this Emma Stewart-inspired wager will not make you rich but I really can’t see either of these horses going under in their respective races so have a decent crack and use the profit to bolster your investments on the Quad. A $100 bet should snare you $210 and doubling your money is never a nasty experience.
The Money Races
Race 2
Fairly simple philosophy here that Truman (9) is simply the best horse in the race and Itscottobegood (3) is racing too well to miss a place. Play the four tricks below and you shouldn’t be far away from the money.
9/ 3/ 2,5,10. $45 gets 1500%.
9/ 3/ 1,4,11. $22.50 gets 750%.
9/ 2,5,10/ 3. $22.50 gets 750%.
9/ 1,4,11/ 3. $10 gets 333.33%.
Race 5
There’s a certain element of risk and reward here given most of the horses engaged here are not exactly honest but I’m pretty keen that if my Speed Map runs to plan with Lycoming Racer (1) holding the top and Foldem (8) holding up behind him, then the only horse who can stop them running the Quinella is the talented but enigmatic Alta Tearaway (7). As a result I’m playing a main Trifecta and a couple of saver sand hoping the big dog gets the prize.
1,7,8/ 1,7,8/ 1,3,6,7,8,9,10. $75 gets 250%.
1, 7,8/ 3,6,9,10/ 1,7,8. $18 gets 75%.
1,7,8/ 3,6,9,10/ 3,6,9,10. $7 gets 19.44%.
Quaddies (x2)
6/ 1,7,8/ 2,3,5,7,11/ 3,4,6,7. $60 gets 100%.
6/ 1,7,8/ 2,3,5,7,11/ 1,2,8,9. $40 gets 66.67%.
Star Trialler
Cheshire Cat (Race 6 no. 2) $4.50
This guy has always shown his fair share of promise and while he is yet to start from the stand, he did trial impressively from the tapes at Kilmore recently, where he was narrowly beaten by the pretty smart Djibouti (who started off 40m) in a tidy mile rate of 2:01.2, highlighted by a 59.6-sec last half. He has drawn well today and can definitely win at Each Way odds.
