Best Bet
Artique (Race 6 no. 1) $1.50
I’m no fan of tipping real shorties as my Best Bet but if this guy doesn’t start at a very silly quote he’s probably worth a wager as it’s almost impossible to see them beating him today. An excellent beginner on his day, he’ll lead from the polemarking draw and from there it would be a major shock to see him get rolled.
Best Value
Pocket Legend (Race 3 no. 1) $4
This is a risky bet as the above horse hasn’t been at his top in recent starts but he is a dead-set leader these days who has run some enormous races for Ross Sugars when able to find the front. From the pole draw the lead will be his here and if he can thieve a quarter then there’s a big chance he’ll stave off major danger THE MIDNIGHT REIGN (7) at pretty handy odds.
Off The Chain (Race 7 no. 7) $4.70
The question marks with this bloke are that he’s first up from a break off some inconclusive trial efforts and he’s switched hands from Michael Stanley to Chris Lang Jnr. In and of themselves, these should not me major obstacles. Lang Jnr is a fine young, horseman and the horse should be fit enough. If he is, I can see him rolling forward at the start and dominating his rivals so in a wide open race he’s the value play for sure.
Money Races
Race 3
As mentioned above, I think this race should be a battle between Pocket Legend (1) and The Midnight Reign (7). Don’t break the bank but play around them in Trifectas as outlined below.
1,7/ 1,7/ 4,5. $40 gets 1000%.
1,7/ 1,7/ 2,3. $10 gets 250%.
Race 6
Artique (1) is almost over the line here and Mister Clooney (3) is the clear second elect. Play around them in all your multiple bets or simply follow my three tricks below.
1/ 3/ 7,10. $30 gets 1500%.
1/ 3/ 2,4,6,11. $10 gets 250%.
1/7,10/ 3. $10 gets 500%.
Quaddie
2,3,4,7,9/ 5,6,11,12/ 1/ 6,7,8,9,10,11. $100 gets 83.33%.
Star Triallers (Racing Tonight)
Countdown (Race 1 no. 1) $2.50
Half brother to star filly and NSW Oaks aspirant Musical delight that has won each of his three trials at Cranbourne in preparation for today’s debut. He ripped home in 58.5 seconds in the second of those trail successes on Feb 9 and should be cherry ripe for this assignment as a result.
Braeview Bomber (Race 1 no. 3) $2.20
Courage Under Fire filly who is also beaten at the qualifiers with two Tabcorp Park trial successes, including a Feb 11 win where she ripped home in 57.2 off a dawdling early pace. She won that trial by 58m against the 3YO Trotters and can also kick her career off here with success.
Black Bookers (Geelong – Last Night)
Broadway Playboy
Emma Stewart-trained half-brother to Broadways Best who blew the start and cost himself at least 30m before catching the field, knuckling down and only losing by 13.8m on the line. He had trialled impressively prior to that effort and will be winning soon when he puts his best foot forward. Click here to view the run.
