Good Form Preview - Thursday Night at Cranbourne

THE GAME PLAN for Cranbourne – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

Get the Cash Early
Things get a little tricky in the second half of tonight’s program so I think the best way to extract some cash from the meeting is by attacking Race’s 2 and 3 via trifectas and first fours.

Race 2
Sapphire Swayze is a quality 4YO resuming from a short break without a trial but his class should see him home here with Ymbro Awesome a good thing to fill second spot and Phils Grinning a big chance of running third so I’m going to play hard with that trio in a trifecta and take a couple of first fours as well, one as a saver in case things go slightly awry.  Below is how I’m spending $200.

Trifecta: 2/ 1/ 8.  $70 gets you 7000%
First Four: 2/ 1/ 8/ 4,5,7.  $70 gets you 2333.33%
First Four: 2/ 1/ 4,5,7/ 8.  $60 gets you 2000%

Race 3
Scruffy Major is also a very smart 4YO who is first up tonight but this guy has had the benefit of two recent trial victories on this circuit to prepare him for this assignment.  He should hold the lead from barrier 1 with Real Grit likely to drop in behind him and The Delirama also in search of the pegs so with that in mind I’m going to take the below bets similar to the previous race for $200 total spend.

Trifecta: 1/ 2,3/ 2,3.  $70 gets you 3500%
First Four: 1/ 2,3/ 2,3/ 4,5.  $70 gets you 1750%
First Four: 1/ 2,3/ 4,5/ 2,3.  $60 gets you 1500%

Quaddie
5,6,7/ 1,2,3,4,8,11/ 6,7,8,9,10/ 2,3,7,9,10,11,12.  $100 gets you 15.87%

BLACK BOOKER (Racing Tonight)

Le Rapide (Race 7 no. 9) $5
This guy is an opportunist who runs his best races when saved up for one final crack at them, as evidenced by his excellent second to My Temudjin at Melton last start where he missed away from the stand, stuck to the pegs and charged home in slick sectionals.  There should be speed on early here and if he gets the right luck over the concluding stages watch for him to be coming at them with purpose.
