On first glance I wasn’t overly enthusiastic about this programme but on further inspection I’ve found plenty to get excited about. In large part, my newfound enthusiasm for the card is based around the fact that my 2 Best Bets are both at a handy price but I’m also keen on 1 Best Value Bet, 1 Best Roughie, 2 Money Races and my Quads as per usual.

Best Bets ($25 Win)

Peaces Of You (Race 4 no. 5) $3.75
I must admit I’ve got a lot of time for this mare and even though I’m not sure she’s racing at the absolute peak of her powers I think if she crosses these as expected she’ll be leading all of the way.

Beau Ciel (Race 8 no. 4) $4.25

This guy was actually pretty good first-up from a spell and in this sort of field I think if he lobs either behind the leader or somewhere on the speed, his turn of foot should prove the difference at pretty handy odds.

Best Value ($15 x $10)

Kiwi Rage (Race 7 no. 2) $7
In an otherwise impossible race I think this bloke is very backable given he should be first to the pegs, is third-up from a break and actually had no luck last time out.

Best Roughie ($10 x $15)

Eclipseofthemoon (Race 1 no. 7) $10
By my reckoning, this guy is coming out of a much stronger formline than most of his rivals and the fact he was able to race three wide late and still battle on well behind Clancys Fobwatch last start gives me some confidence he can overcome the wide front lien draw tonight. He’s no moral but keep him in your thoughts.

The Money Races

Race 4 ($50 Flexi First 4’s)
I’ve already outlined the fact that Peaces Of You (5) is my clear top tip here and to my mind, if she leads, she cannot finish any worse than second. There are also a couple of runners who I can’t see finishing anywhere near the money so I’m pushing my luck by playing First 4’s instead of Trifectas tonight.

This looks a two horse race between Wolowitz (6) and Metrofromelle (3) with the former horse clearly the one to beat. Armbro Speedstar (5) is almost as clear cut as the third tip too so play some very skinny Tricks around them dominating the race.

This guy was very game in defeat at Swan Hill last start after doing his fair share of work. Expect him to press forward at the start and look for the lead tonight and be hard to beat against this lot.

(Race 8 no.7 Five Star Looka) $2.40
This guy was most impressive in his first career win here last start where he led throughout in good time. Expect him to use his speed to overcome his wide draw and find the lead here and be hard to beat.

(Race 1 no.7 Eclipseofthemoon) $35 Each Way $10
This guy did a super job to stick on in the lane after getting caught three wide for the last lap at Geelong at his most recent outing. The step up to 2180m looks ideal here and he is a great chance in a moderate race tonight.
