Good Form Preview - 100 Years @ Bray Raceway

The Game Plans for Ballarat

Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

Tonight’s Centenary meeting at Bray Raceway is a little tricky but I feel sure that there are four outstanding bets which should yield at least three winners. As a result I’m advising punters to take a formula three and cross their fingers that all four horses get the prize. Here they are.

Best Bets

Our Femme Fatale (Race 1 no. 4) $1.20
This filly will be extremely short but she has lengths on her rivals for class, trialled brilliantly and will at least kick our night off with success.

It Is Billy (Race 5 no. 2) $2.60
The only question mark with this guy is that he isn’t brilliant off the arm - having said that, if he can settle handy and peel three wide down the back I’d be surprised if they hold him out late

Easy Lightning (Race 6 no. 7) $2.20
This just looks his race. A speedy beginner he may have drawn wide but has mostly hand-up material drawn inside and even if he breezes I think he’ll be a shade too good.

Metro Mike (Race 7 no. 1) $2.20
Another one who’s only concern is getting buried back in the field with the speed drawn outside him. Even if he does get shuffled back a little I still think with the likely pressure here his superior late speed will prove the difference tonight.

I advise punters to play safe but if you want to have a little crack at the all-up it should pay between $12 & $16 per $1 investment.

The Money Races

Race 1
As previously mentioned, Our Femme Fatale (4) has this race on toast and to be honest there’s very few horses who can even run a drum, so play skinny and attack like this.
4/ 1,5,9/ 1,2,5,9. $90 gets 1000%.

Race 5
Once again, I’ve already outlined my thoughts that It Is Billy (2) should win here with ordinary luck but just in case everything goes pair shaped and he runs second I’m having a saver too.
2/ 1,4,5,6/ 1,4,5,6/ 1,4,5,6,8,9. $48 gets 100%.
1,4,5,6/ 2/ 1,4,5,6/ 1,4,5,6,8,9. $12 gets 25%.

Race 6
Yet another race where I’m looking to play around my clear top tip, which in this case is Easy Lightning (7).  He looks close to a moral and its pretty skinny after that as well.
7/ 4,5,6,12/ 4,5,6,12. $60 gets 500%.
7/ 4,5,6,12/ 8,9,11. $15 gets 125%.

Race 7
Metro Mike (1) is the one to beat but there are three legitimate dangers so have a crack at the following First 4’s and hope for a little slice of value.
1/ 3,4,7/ 3,4,7/ 3,4,5,7,8. $72 gets 400%.
3,4,7/ 1/ 3,4,7/ 3,4,5,7,8. $28 gets 155.56%.

Bill Hutchison (@Hutchysays)

Best Bet

Easy Lightning (Race 6 no. 7) $2.20
He is a duel 3YO winner who grades extremely well at CO level and looks to have these covered.

Best Value

Frameworks Pride (Race 2 no. 1) $4
Ran a bold race in front at Geelong when beaten on the line last week. He’ll be a lot fitter for that and in a moderate field he’ll be mighty hard to run down.

Best Trifecta

Outstanding filly Our Femme Fatale (4)  makes here return here and while she’ll be too short to back straight we can make some cash by isolating her to win in a skinny Trifecta.
4/ 1,2,5,9/ 1,2,5,9. $60 gets 500%.

Quaddie
1,3,5,6,9,10/ 2,4,5/ 7,12/ 1,3,6,7. $72 gets 50%.

Star Triallers (Racing Tonight)

Our Femme Fatale (Race 1 no. 4) $1.20
This outstanding filly and Vicbred Super Series indicated she was ready to roll in her return to racing tonight when winning a recent Ballarat trial by 20m, mile rating 1:59.5 and finishing off in 58. She’ll be way too good tonight and could be in for a monster preparation.

Yankee Rockstar (Race 8 no. 1) $2.20
The Emma Stewart team just keep rolling out outstanding youngsters and this guy may be next in the chain. A Rocknroll Hanover Colt with exclusively American breeding he has trialled three times for his debut, winning one of those qualifiers here at Ballarat by 70m when finishing off in 57.1. It’s an outstanding juvenile field but he’s well in the winning mix.

The Fat Man (Race 8 no. 4) $3.30
He is another very exciting freshman, this time trained by David Lewis who threw down a 57.33-second final half at his rivals to win a recent Tabcorp Park trial by 43m. he is a half brother to fellow gun youngsters Ay Tee Em and Giggling Girl and is also a real, live chance in this evening’s final race.

Black Booker (Racing Tonight)

Dutch Harbour (Race 5 no. 5) $5
This guy has his hoof squarely on the till and only needs a cheaper run in transit to go one better than last time out when valiantly chasing Lombo Sleek Streak home at the end of a 1:56 mile. He has found another tough race but will certainly acquit himself well. Click here to view the run.

Weekend Sectionals – Triple Treat

It shouldn’t be hard to figure out which pacer broke the 54-second barrier for his final half last weekend but the fact that we can see those stunning numbers in PDF form is a credit to the #goodform guru who makes sure we know exactly what times our favourite horses ran every weekend.

This week, he has spoilt us with sectional splits from the Tabcorp Park Quad on Friday night which can be found by clicking here, the two Bendigo Cup card features, which are available by clicking here and the Hamilton Cup splits, which can be found by clicking here.

We at the Good Form team hope you enjoy these stats. Let us know that you love them as much as we do by sending us a message via @HRVnews and remember, betting on Harness Racing is GOOD FORM!
