Welcome to
Harness Racing Victoria’s ‘Good Form’ wagering blog. The first of its kind
anywhere in Australia, the ‘Good Form’ blog has been created & designed to
assist punters wagering on Victorian harness racing by offering a unique
insight into form analysis and delivering comprehensive punting advice straight
from HRV's form analysts to complement the
daily form comment found via Punters Corner on www.harness.org.au - and in several leading publications including
the Herald Sun.
What is it – exactly?
As of today’s
launch, Good Form is a work in progress. As mentioned, its chief objective will
be to deliver inside information from HRV’s in-house team of form experts.
The way this
will be done is by offering fans and converts the hidden secrets and underlying
info which will hopefully help them walk away winners on the punt.
In its
formative stages, Good Form will focus on five clear categories.
The Categories
The Game Plan
The Game Plan will be a daily punting platform
which details how one of HRV’s form team – headed by Michael Polster – would
attack the Victorian meeting/s of the day.
This platform
will be variable, with some programme’s throwing up a series of quality exotics
and value bets and others more difficult to pin down.
One constant
in the Good Form Game Plan will be
Quaddies. At least one Quaddie per programme will be listed although more often
than not Quads will be split to accommodate a $100 spend.
Black Bookers
Black Bookers are also fairly self evident. In this
section HRV’s form team will offer punters the benefit of their video reviews
by nominating all the eye-catching performance of the previous day/night’s
meeting/s.
Each horse
nominated for the Black Book will be
accompanied by a brief comment about why they have been nominated and a link to
the video of their performance for punters to view for themselves.
Once a
database of Black Bookers has been
established, punters will also be informed before every meeting whether any
previous Black Bookers are engaged.
Star Triallers
Much like
Black Bookers the Star Triallers category
will outline outstanding trial performances from the previous 24 hours so
punters are abreast of a resuming horse’s progress before they make it back to
the track.
Also as with
the Black Book, all Star Triallers will
be identified when next at the track once a stockpile has been created.
In the
formative stages of Good Form, some Star Triallers may be identified before
this stockpile has been gathered so punters can have confidence or otherwise
about horses resuming from a spell.
Speed Maps
A seminal
addition to current Harness Racing form analysis will be the inclusion of Speed Maps for every Friday night
meeting at Melton from this weekend - 5/10 - onwards.
Each Speed Map will be defined by the
identification of horses with gate speed who are drawn the front line along
with the presence of Natural Enforcers – or horses who thrive on racing tough –
and an appraisal on whether any given race will feature genuine speed or
otherwise.
It is hoped Speed Maps will eventually be a feature
of form analysis for EVERY Victorian meeting although trialling the concept on
Friday night’s and benefitting from feedback from YOU THE PUNTER will be
crucial to its ongoing success.
Programme in Review
Programme in Review will be the final regular segment of
the Good Form Blog and its role will be to investigate how HRV’s form analysts
are travelling with their tips and suggested bets.
As they say,
the proof is in the pudding and by auditing our efforts via Programme in Review it’s hoped that
those following Good Form can wager with confidence knowing they’re in safe punting
hands.
Feedback
As mentioned
several times, Good Form is here as the ultimate punters pal and as such we
will be hoping for plenty of feedback from punters on how to complement &
improve this service over the upcoming weeks and months.
