Cyclades (Race 6 no. 1)

Won his heat of this final here 10 days ago in fine style where he sat parked and threw down a slippery last quarter of 28.6 at his rivals to score well. He looks like getting the gun run behind likely leader Lombo Blu Blood tonight and will be nigh on impossible to hold out once he gets down into the passing lane.  

Mach Beauty (Race 7 no. 1)

This guy was mowed down by Born Again Sassy at Shepparton last week but that was over the longer trip and he will relish the return to the short course. He should have little trouble holding the lead from the ace alley tonight and should atone for his defeat as favourite last time.

Best Place Bet   

Kai Star Fella (Race 7 no. 8)

Doesn’t have the most inspiring numbers next to his name but he hasn’t had the best of luck lately and is going better than his form on paper. He gets Nathan Jack tonight, should trail the likely leader Mach Beauty and has a great chance of running a place at generous odds.

Best Roughie

Stealing Life (Race 5 no. 3)

Hard to get enthused about a horse who has only won 1 from 21 but he has been trialling nicely at Melton in recent weeks and in a weak race from the handy barrier you could do worse than have something on him at juicy odds.

Has had the two trials at Melton in preparation for his first up run tonight, winning his latest workout 9 days ago in 2:03.2 with a last quarter in 28.9. He hasn’t set the world on fire in his 21 starts to date but in a moderate affair from a nice draw he is worthy of a ticket each way at liberal odds.

Ran a super race on debut behind the smart Major Steppe where he worked to the lead, copped some pressure and battled on strongly for second.
