THE GAME PLAN for Ballarat – with Michael Polster

Best Bet

The Midnight Reign (Race 2 no. 10)
Adam Kelly-prepared former Kiwi mare who has been ultra-impressive at her past two and looks a great chance of completing the hat trick tonight.

Best Quinella

Cobargo Jack and The Kingston Flyer (Race 8 no’s 2 and 5)
Talented pair who look much better than their rivals and with the likelihood of them occupying the top two positions in the run they should dominate.

BLACK BOOKERS – (Racing Tonight)

Ashira Bromac (Race 7 no. 5)
She had absolutely no luck at all behind Wheatsheaf Avaball at Maryborough last start where she drew awkwardly and went to the line under triple wraps from Gavin Lang. She has a tricky barrier again tonight, but at least she will be out in the clear and she will be winning this if all goes to plan in the run. Click here to view her most recent run.

Darcy Tee (Race 2, no. 1)
This bloke is very brave but he has been forced to do far too much work in recent runs at Melton and should appreciate the polemarking draw if he’s able to punch through and hold them out at the start. This is a tough race but he was particularly good two starts back and may be worth an each way wager. Click here to view his run on October 5.

Keayang Genius (Race 6, no. 7)
This guy hails from the powerful Marg Lee barn and his story is very similar to that of Darcy Tee. He made his way into the Black Book two starts back when brave in defeat behind Kriptonik then franked that form with a handy Tabcorp Park effort last time out. He too finds himself in a tough race but may also be worth an each way ticket, grandstand gate and all. Click here to view his run on October 3.

Narra Operative (Race 7 no. 6)
He had to be seen to be believed when knocking off Keayang Falcon at Terang two starts back then wasn’t disgraced in a blanket finish last time out. He’ll need luck with fellow Black Booker Ashira Bromac also in the race but a repeat of his efforts at Terang would see him in the finish once again tonight. Click here to View his run on October 3.

STAR TRIALLERS – (Racing Tonight)

Rakos (Race 3 no. 4)
This bloke is fresh up tonight but he showed his readiness for this assignment with a handy trial against the pacers on this circuit where he was beaten 7m behind the winner who slipped home in 28.9. He is a 35-start maiden but did run some nice races towards the end of last season and should be more than competitive in this moderate affair first up.

STAR TRIALLERS from Monday night @ Melton – with Robbie Auber

Lady Patti
This filly is ready to win. She trialled well for the second time in succession at Melton when settling behind the leader after showing speed out of the gate. Once in the clear from the 600m she stormed home to win impressively and untouched. Last mile 2:1.6/57.7/27.9. She is engaged Thursday and looks very hard to beat.

Pembrook Caesar
She is a NZ-bred filly now with Craig Demmler who arrives here as a CO and should be winning quickly based on her Tabcorp Park trial. She showed gate speed before taking a trail. Once out and running in the lane she finished strongly & won well. Last mile 1:59.2/56.5. Looks very hard to beat whenever she steps out.
