The Game Plan for Warragul - with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
Best Bets/ Formula 2 ($60 gets 20 units)
Glenferrie Typhoon (Race 1 no. 6) $1.60
To suggest I have a lot of time for this horse would be one of history's great understatements. He is, quite simply, one of Victorian squaregaiting's fastest rising stars. The obstacles for him today are the 30m handicap over a shortish trotting trip and the unique, hard-to-make-ground-on, Warragul circuit. I trust him to overcome both though and prove a world too good.
Quite A Moment (Race 8 no. 8) $3.80
Nothing much has gone right for this Breeders Crown-winning mare in recent starts and she's probably on her last chance this campaign with me, but I know in my heart of hearts that she's comfortably the quickest and most gifted trotter in this field and will only need to do everythiung right for a change to put these to the sword.
McNiven (Race 7 no. 7) $3
I must say I had to look twice when this bloke wasn't favourite for this race in today's Herald Sun. I haven't always been his biggest fan because he can get his head on the side and try to throw races away but his last few have been outstanding and I'm just not sure if any other horse in this field could have mixed it with Major Crocker the way he has at his past couple of outings.
Best Roughie ($10 x $30)
Duke Of The Moment (Race 5 no. 10) $11
I've already outlined my preference for Quite A Moment (8) but I still find it hard to believe that this bloke could be at a double figure quote after almost winning the McNamara Memorial Trotters Cup at Geelong then placing behind Aleppo Midas at Melton's Tabcorp Park.
