It’s rare to be racing at Ballarat on a Monday afternoon, but in many ways it’s a pleasant surprise with some pretty handy horses going a around in some very competitive events. It will not be a really easy day for punters but if we play smart with just a couple of short priced Best Bets, plus 1 Best Value, 1 Money Race and some Quads hopefully we can kick this week off on the right note today!
Best Bets/ All-Up ($50)
Asdenro (Race 2 no. 4) $1.60This bloke was a handy enough juvenile but he’s really come on in leaps and bounds as a 3YO and in this relatively moderate race he should lead and win today.
Bettors Package (Race 9 no. 11) $1.70
The outside second line draw is some imposition for this filly
but she is blessed with plenty of bottom and a real will to win. I expect Gavin
will make a pretty early move here and all things being equal she’ll prove a
class above.
Best Value ($25 Each Way)
Manningham Park (Race 8 no. 2) $5I’m not sure we’ll get $5 about this guy but if we do I will be jumping on. Simply put, he can mix his form but almost always races best when let loose to run over the sprint journey. Expect him to fly the arm here race well clear of his rivals. There are a couple who can hunt him down from there but they’ll want to bring their A-Game to do so.
The Money Race – Race 2 ($50 Flexi Trifectas)
As mentioned above, I believe Asdenro (4) has this
lot on toast while Im Notta Trotter (1) is a clear second pick. If both
horses stay in gait throughout I’m near certain they’ll run one-two or
one-three at very worst and I’m playing skinny with the others who can join
them on the dais.
