Good Form Preview - Thursday @ Maryborough

The Game Plan for Maryborough – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
Best Bet
Cool Machrista (Race 6 no.4) $1.50 ($50 Win)
We won’t be retiring on the proceeds of backing this filly today but it’s been a pretty good week on the punt so far so have a good crack at her straight out and no matter where she lobs in the run you should earn some extra folding.

Best Value
Franco Seelster (Race 4 no. 4) $3.80 ($25 Win)
This bloke is no superstar but he gets conditions to suit today as he’s almost certain to find the front and given he produced an almost career best performance when racing tough and only just going under at Warragul last start, I think he’s worth a straight out whack here.

Win The Crowd (Race 5 no. 10) $3 ($25 Win)
He is another one with a fair bit in his favour given he’s third up from a spell, goes well from the tapes and meets moderate opposition. He’ll probably start shorter than the $3 quoted in today but as long as he’s n black figures he’s also worth a wager.

Quaddies
3,4,9/ 10/ 4/ 2,11. $16 gets 266.67%
3,4,9/ 1,4,5,8,9,10,11,13/ 4/ 2,6,8,9,11. $60 gets 50%
3,4,5,7,8,9/ 1,4,5,8,9,10,11,13/ 4/ 2,6,8,9,11. $24 gets 10%

Black Booker
Cardigan Boko (Race 1 no. 2) $2.80
European bred trotter w/ Chris Lang who was held up for a long way but sprinted home strongly when he saw clear running on debut at Yarra Valley. He can certainly measure up today and may be worth an Each way wager. Click here to view his debut run.

Good Form Preview - Wednesday Night @ Kilmore

The Game Plan for Kilmore – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
Best Bet
Modern Mary (Race 5 no. 3) $2.60 ($50 Win)
I admit to having a pretty profound love for this horse after she won first-up for me at double figure odds but the fact is that she is more than likely to hold out her only rival here in Authorized (7) at the start & if she does I don’t think he can run her down.

Best Roughie
Niquero (Race 7 no. 2) $21 ($10 x $40)
If you only look at his figure form this bloke probably deserves to be at big odds but he was flying not so long ago and hasn’t had any luck at all in three runs since he strung two wins together @ Cobram & Shepparton. It’s a speculative bet, but if he can run past Major Steppe (1) early or maybe even test him and then lob his back, I think he can certainly run a race at very juicy odds.

The Money Race – Race 5
As outlined above, this is a fair dinkum Match Race between Modern Mary (3) & Authorized (7) so play it that way & expect a result.

3,7/ 3,7/ 4,8,9. $42 gets 700%
3,7,/ 3,7/ 2,6. $8 gets 200%

Quaddies
3,7,8,9,10,11/ 3,7/ 1,3,4,5,8,9,10/ 1. $42 gets 50%
3,7,8,9,10,11/ 3,7/ 1,3,4,5,8,9,10/ 2,6,7,8. $58 gets 17.26%

Black Booker (Racing Tonight)
Cheshire Cat (Race 2 no. 5) $13
This bloke absolutely rattled home after having no luck in transit at Kilmore last start and while this race is harder than that one, he is still worth consideration at the juicy double figure quote. Click here to view his most recent run.

Good Form Preview - Wednesday @ Hamilton

The Game Plan for Hamilton – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

Best Bet
Mayorofshinetown (Race 6 no. 12) $4 ($50 Win)
There’s no doubt this bloke would be much better suited off the front line here given his very good gate speed and enviable recent record when able to lead but he’s earned the grandstand gate with some terrific recent form and if Michael Bellman can put him into the race at any stage he should prove a shade too good.

The Money Race – Race 7
The key to this race is that there are limited hopes and red figure favourite Mister Livan (9) may be vulnerable against some pretty handy pacers. Take the below Trifectas & you shouldn’t be too far off the mark.

1,9/ 1,2,9/ 1,2,6,7,8,9. $40 gets 200%
1,9/ 6,7/ 1,2,6,7,8,9. $10 gets 50%

Quaddies (x3)
4,10,12/ 1,11/ 12/ 1,9. $24 gets 200%
4,10,12/ 1,2,4,9,11/ 12/ 1,2,9. $45 gets 100%
4,10,12/ 1,2,4,6,9,11/ 3,7,8,12/ 1,2,6,7,9. $31 gets 8.61%

Black Booker (Racing Today)
Lucky Twenty Three (Race 3 no. 10) $2.50
This bloke is loaded up w/ any amount of talent and if his first-up victory, when descending on his rivals from well back at Warragul is anything to go by he’s in for a monster campaign this time in. Click here to view his most recent run.

Good Form Preview - Tuesday Night @ Echuca

The Game Plan for Echuca – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
As we’ve mentioned many times in the past, Echuca is a tight-turning circuit which plays very heavily toward horses up on the speed – preferably leading – and racing on the pegs. Having said that it isn’t easy to find too many dead-set leaders here tonight so we’re going to put most of our eggs in one basket called Race 5 where I reckon the speed map is pretty well established while also targeting a Best Value bet along with some pretty wide old Quads.

Best Bet
The Numbers Man (Race 5 no. 2) $3.20 ($50 Win)
As outlined above, Echuca is something of a leader’s paradise and given this bloke looks a 90% chance of finding the front and arrives here off the back of a more than creditable performance when leading until the shadows of the post in a 1:57.4 mile rate, I think he’ll be almost impossible to beat. Also in his favour is the 1755m trip and lack of a genuine enforcer to make him work too hard.

Best Value
Whatacracker $4.40 ($25 Each Way)
This bloke ran his best race for some time when flashing home for third behind Charlotte Two and The Numbers Man at Cobram last time out. He is a brilliant beginner at his best that will have the option of leading or taking a trail from the draw and when you factor in his excellent record @ Echuca (13-3-6-2) and the fact Chris Alford will be doing the steering he looks a clear top tip.

The Money Race – Race 5
We’ve already discussed the fact that The Numbers Man (2) should be both leading and winning here and if the preferred speed map scenario plays out then Saint Liliana (1) should hold his back and run a drum for sure. There’s risk involved here but if we carve it up a few ways I think we’ll get the prize.

2/ 1/ 7. $25 gets 2500%
2/ 1/ 3,10,11. $30 gets 1000%
2/ 1/ 4,6,8. $15 gets 500%
2/ 7/ 1. $10 gets 1000%
2/ 3,10,11/ 1. $15 gets 500%
2/ 4,6,8/ 1. $5 gets 166.67%

Quaddies
1,2,5,6,7,8,9/ 2/ 5,6/ 1. $14 gets 100%
1,2,5,6,7,8,9/ 2/ 1,8,9,10/ 1. $14 gets 50%
1,2,5,6,7,8,9/ 2/ 5,6/ 3,5,8,9,10,11. $42 gets 50%
1,2,5,6,7,8,9/ 2/ 1,8,9,10/ 3,5,8,9,10,11. $30 gets 17.86%

Good Form Preview - Monday @ Charlton

The Game Plan for Charlton – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

It’s a typically tough Monday afternoon card @ Charlton today w/ mostly lower grade horses plying their trade but top-class Melton trainer Adam Kelly may be the key to our day. In race five, Kelly will prepare the pretty talented but much maligned 4YO, Doomed, while in race six he’ll have the even more talented Sapphire Swayze returning from a spell. Put simply, Doomed should start at short odds for his third start in succession and for the third straight time I think he can get rolled while Sapphire Swayze should just win his race and anchor Trifectas & Quads for us in the process.

Best Value ($25 Each Way on all)

Smokinoff (Race 5 no. 1) $7.50

As mentioned above, Doomed (8) is likely to start at a short price in this race and I’m more than happy to back the above pacer if he does. Smokinoff (1) actually possesses reasonable gate speed on his day, will have options from the draw, is improving w/ every run this time in and seems to thrive at Charlton where he’s been placed in all of his three runs at the track. It’s a compelling case and enough to tempt me in on an Each Way basis.

Dam Lucky (Race 5 no. 4) $7

This guy was very disappointing first-up from a spell where he pulled hard and never got into the race @ Hamilton but he comes into barrier three w/ the scratching of Benhar Brat and looks the most likely runner to relieve Smokinoff (1) of the early lead. Much like Smokinoff (1) he is not as talented as race favourite Doomed (8) but the circumstances suit & so does the price so get involved w/ him as well on an Each Way basis.

Miss Elvira (Race 8 no. 2) $4.20

This mare is yet to break through from 13 starts to date but she has landed 5 placings in that time and if she’s going to taste glory then today looks her day. Not only does she draw to use her sometimes stunning gate speed to find and hold the lead from barrier two but she is a short course specialist who has paced four sub-1:58 mile rates in her short career to date and should be suited by both the track and opposition today.

The Money Race – Race 7

The philosophy here is pretty simple; there is plenty of speed off the front line but I expect flying beginner Kensington Palace (3) to find the front with Ruby Slippers (1) in behind her early. Hot pop Sapphire Swayze (6) should either work forward in search of the lead or sit quietly in the breeze before overwhelming his rivals in the lane. If he finds the front then our main Trifecta looks a moral – if not then the saver should get us home.

6/ 1,3/ 1,3. $25 gets 1250%
6/ 1,3/ 2,4,8,11. $25 gets 312.5%

Quaddies (x2)

6/ 1,4,8/ 2,4,6,8,9/ 6. $45 gets 250%
3,5/ 1,4,8/ 2,4,6,8,9/ 6. $45 gets 150%
6/ 6,11/ 2,4,6,8,9/ 6. $5 gets 50%
3,5/ 6,11/ 2,4,6,8,9/ 6. $5 gets 25%
